Guest Guest Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 I fitted 2 to my nephews ermine white anglia & it took days to get them looking right. Its not a job that i`d wanna do again & i`ve been fitting panels to cars for 20 + years.
capriclive Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 i put fibreglass mex ones on my old mk1. got them from smith & deaking. a little trimming but overall a very good fit. bolted them on
Rick Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 mine needed a lot of modding to get them looking spot on things to consider: -air pockets in the gel coat which will pop open when warm, you need to find them all pop them and inject witha bit of resin -gaps, youl have to chop and reshape all gap edges to get right, however this is a great advantage over steel wings as you cant do that kind of work as easilly. - rail edge needs making wider as you dont really get much of an edge to bolt/rivet through on the top wing edge to rail. - the wings do not come perfectly true to shape., they have lumps dents and bumps moulded into them if the moulded wing wasnt perfect, and also the shape changes slightly if the wing is popped out its mould too early. hope that helps./ at least they dont rot
