escort21 Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 When the valve is going up and down so quick the spring can't keep up
Mexico Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 how do u no they r bouncing then? do they make a rattly noise??
Hilux Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 a misfire and the possibitly of piston to valve contact, which is not good at all it only usually occurs at very high revs but worn valve springs may make it happen lower down the rev scale, it's the reason that double valve springs are used on high performance engines
emu Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Rev limiter!! seriously though, it isnt good. the valves are basically floating around doing their own thing. And as micky said can result in valve to piston contact. Very expensive, very quickly.
