Please help restore my faith in old fords!!!
Hilux replied to paul capri's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
if you want my input don't buy a beemer, look at the cost of parts compared to the cost of parts for an old ford, and you can do most of the work yerself on a ford, beemers have alot of specialist tools and electronics. when I had old fords (haven't got one now) I always looked at other cars with envy but couldn't afford a mint one myself, so I suppose I was never happy but I did enjoy my cars. have a long hard think about the pro's and con's of any car before you commit yourself to a different one. I gave up my old fords went on to jap cars, then bikes, and I don't think I was happy with any of them, now got a 4x4 which is comfy, roomy, cheap and easy to fix and runs on used cooking oil, I think I'm happy with this one............for now. -
Hi peeps, Mickyd here, I still visit every now and then, I'm still interested in osf's just don't have one now, got a 4x4 now and doin some off roading, black capri was sold a few years ago, you may even still see it knocking around the pod as I know it's new owner races it. I still occasionally go on track days with cossie matt so see a few of you about. For those of you who remember smithy, hes into bikes now and has just got a new civic type R aswell. I still enjoy lookin through the pics of the cars you guys have and build, you just can't beat the old fords.

all credit to you fella for making your own but why don't you use a datatool revlight? yes it was made for bikes, but it only has 3 wires and a programming earth very easy to fit all you need is an electronic rev counter as you need to tap into the pulse feed, at the bottom of this web page is some vids of it in use, the one i had was set up so when max revs were hit, the whole display flashed very quickly until revs dropped upon gear change. like i say, all credit to you for making one but check the vids at bottom of this page http://www.cbr929rr.com/revlight.htm

artic test is easier than the class 2 test as lane discipline has to be relaxed because of the room required to manouver around bends, roundabouts and juntions. and the emergency stop is more relaxed because the truck is 20ft longer which means you have an extra 20ft to stop in.
-
as long as you can prove your the owner and its a hobby, theres not a great deal they can do about it as long as the noise made doesn't go on late at night.
-
well done jason, i remember doing my test very well, now you just gotta learn how to turn it round in tight spaces first time i had to i said "no way will that turn round in there" until another driver showed me how to jack knife it in the back yard of sainsbury's in white chapel. it all comes with practise mate. well done

sounds like you know them well steve, although the car is an import it's the same engine as the uk spec celica gt4, so parts aren't an issue, and yes oh so tuneable, 220 bhp as standard as its a revision 1 car, but yes 600bhp isn't unheard of.

the blokes a twat, spun it 5 times in that vid and 4 of them were into the roundabout, all whilst on a public roundabout whilst road users are trying to use it, as for driving round the wrong way i f i caught him doing that while i had my family on the roads on that roundabout, i think i'd have to kick fook outta him WAN**R -
if anything blows i'll just bung a steel gasket in there, and yes they can be a bit awkward to get at, but thats half the challenge

i would have popped in mate but the cars location wasn't staines, it was in kenley in surrey, he hasn't got an ebay account and was using his bosses. the plastic looks solid enough so hopefully it wont fall off

andy, all the locals use the carpark opposite the football ground -
i notice some of you knock longlife and powerflow systems, you have to remember that these systems are custom made by hand and welded by hand, which means that the exhaust is only as good as the person who made it, if the person making it has limited stainless steel welding experience and pipe bending ability then the exhaust obviously isn't going to be much good and shouldn't reflect the quality of the whole powerflow or longlife range. personally i can recommend top gear of st albans who are a powerflow dealer, welding is top quality and fit is superb as i had one made for my MG ZS. i think by the sounds of the cases of exhausts falling off then that is down to poor quality workmanship and not a fault of the product itself.

thank you my right honourable pm jimbob and a happy new year to you all. I do still have addictive cravings for 2 wheels as they were my first love, but right now is not a good time and when you here news like that, you cant help but think of yer kids, family etc... I will still come in and take a looky around and i'll refrain from bringing my new car up all the time and jimbob, yes it does shift somewhat i think standard the 0-60 time is just over 5 secs

after taking some time out to sort out where im going with my future cars, some of you may have noticed the v8 capri on ebay and hopefully it will be off to a new home shortly. I was going to get back onto 2 wheels but after the tragic death of a friend of a friend who has recently been killed on a bike, I decided for the sake of my family to stick to 4 wheels, and tonight i have driving round soggy surrey taking a look at what is now my new car. when i left i did say i'd pop back and let you guys know what i end up with and that is what i'm doing, i am well aware that most of you wont like it coz it's japanese, but hey i'm happy with it and it will be my everyday drive. I've just bought a 1991 Toyota MR2 turbo, mint condition 88,000kms on the clock and unmodified apart from a decat, boost guage and an HKS turbo timer for the princely sum of £2500. i am aware that it goes against your religions as ford nuts but i need to move on and as soon as the capri is sold then some go faster goodies are in order. good luck guys micky
