Hi.

I bought their rebound adjustable struts only the other week. Had to have them made extra short to stop them from bottoming out.

No pics, but you can see them in real life if you wanna. My car is in the workshop at the mo so not too far from you

Top quality work.

Are they new or did you send the old ones to them? I know you dont get the same ones back, just wanna know what you get back

They use the stub axle you supply and insert thier own tube into them. then they are finished in black zinc or silver nickel at extra cost ;) as far as I know. i'm saving pennies for some as we speak :)

Like JohnyH says, they just use the stub axle and the casting at the bottom - all the rest is new. I dropped off the complete struts to them and they came back like the picture. Can't fault the quality, and they are very knowledgable if you want something non-standard.

Thank you thats great  Spoke to gaz today they can all the suspension for the whole car for about £450 all in, they said "the fronts we can make you a coilover with adj rebound damping & using a 2 1/4 spring" I asked them why people use capri struts, they said "most people use the capri or rs ones as you have a much bigger range of brake & disc options as the stubs are bigger & stronger" what ever all this means im useless with suspension, im sure you could get a bigger disc conversion for the orginal legs, but whats better to have it zinc or nickel plated????

Struts are a bit of a confusing subject for me too. On my mk1 escort the struts are just mk1 escort legs with the cast steering arm. They have been converted to fully adjustable units by Leda. The trouble is that the car also uses GRP4 alloy hubs but the previous owner had big problems getting the hub to fit on the stub axle? In the end, he ended up getting a collar made up to slot over the stub axle to take up the slack that the bearing made.

Now i would have thought that using a mk1 escort strut, there would be lots of hub/bearing options?? I think it's something to do with the stub axle being imperial as its mk1 escort and the alloy hubs are metric? therefore there isnt a bearing to suit? i dunno, it works a treat though!

Did'nt Gaz take over Leda?

Leda`s name was from Lee and Dave....Hence Leda to first intial of there names,

Think dave started Gaz on his own?

Sure Retro will enlighten me some more.....But its somethink like that

Gazzard Eng. did the machining for LEDA .. Dave Lyons is the main man at GAZ and he was as Mark said the DA in Leda .. Len being the other half ..

When he 'left ' Leda he went to Gazzard Eng. and started Gaz Dampers
