m1c Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 i dont get it. the 1.6 capri costs me nearly £250 a year to insure. even a 2.8i only sticks another hundred or so on it. ive been doin a few quotes for other cars and i dont get it.... cheapest quote for a scooby - £900! cheapest quote for an Evo 1 - £1600!! yes they might be newer etc etc and ive been in both so know what theyre like to drive, but is it really worth that much?! ive worked out to get my capri running and lookin half decent at least (compared to what it is now) its gonna cost me around the £500 mark. assuming i do the welding etc myself. and still pay under £500 for insurance! would a mildly tuned 2.0 pinto be as fun as a scooby? probably! might not be as quick, but that dont mean it be as fun does it?
hellblue Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Not that we drive our cars like we are on our driving test but if you own a a scooby ect you fall into a group of people that insurance companies call t*ats that are most likely to have a accident so they pay more
negri Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 also lots of classic insurance policies want you to have another car or be over 25 . so if its a second car it wont be used as much and if your over 25 you are seen as less of a risk .
sab6024 Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 When I bought my XR4i I was told by the insurance company to get a Thatcham 1 fitted. No choice in the matter they wouldn't insure it otherwise plus I was told that it would save me money on my insurance. I got it fitted £150 later I saved £5 on my policy Not worth doing then really. Did the same with my Capri and my XR4x4 Saved me bugger all So their suggestions on saving you money doesn't help either.....muppets
