scrapyard-mutt Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Just had a phone call from a TV production company who are filming a new car series and they are doing a head to head with a 1998 Yank Ford Crown Victoria Police Car vs a UK cop Volvo T5. They have a UK copper who will be a talking head about the Volvo but have been let down by an American copper who was going to be the one to talk about the Ford. Anyone who could or knows of anyone who could talk knowledgeably about such things and would be free to be a TV star (filming is on monday in Esssex!!) gimme a shout. The poor researcher is having kittens!
Morley Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I know that they handle like a water bed with a puncture... does that count?
scrapyard-mutt Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 Here's your chance then Ben... you could be a star! The new Hamster...

Hilux Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 the only crown victoria i know of is this one, and it aint much of a cop car
Guest V6MAT Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 the back seats have a special back plates over which the fabric/foam is fitted which has cut out for someone arms if they are cuffed so it is more comfortable
deluxe Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 they are also used as taxies in New York. a bit better acceleration than the london cabs, and a lot softer seats
scrapyard-mutt Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 Hey V6MAT, that sounds about the level of geekness they're after!!!
RFChris Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 The 1998 Crown Vic that they are using is actually a "P71". Pretty much a stock car tbh. The shocks are uprated and it rides about 2 inches higher than a standard Vic. The air intake is modified using parts from another ford engine ('stang?). The engine also has added air and oil coolers so that it'l go for longer withough overheating. There are also strut braces front and rear. There's more....but i think the above demonstates my geekieness. Oh....and that have a chassis mounted ram-bar!
Posse Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 nice chris where did you copy that shite from?
RFChris Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 nice chris where did you copy that shite from? Sadly i knew most of it, barr the ride height and the "P71" bit. But hey....its good to add to the automotive sadness that is my heeeeed!
scrapyard-mutt Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 Any luck with that number Ge... I mean Chris?
RFChris Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Nah, nothing yet mate. Just get an odd tone. I'll text him in the morning. Chris
Guest V6MAT Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 the front ends are all reinforced along with bars for PIT menuvre
scrapyard-mutt Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 Is that where they nudge and spin cars off the road? Why oh why aren't our coppers allowed to do that to the joyriding little sh*ts over here?
RFChris Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Well, i was offered it. But its two days filming, and i'm sorta occupied on Tuesday. Shame. Woulda been interesting. Chris
RFChris Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 It might be fun, but work is priority....annoyingly.
scrapyard-mutt Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 Cheers for offering Chris, they are now flying a chap in from the States to do the prog... and there may be a little 'cameo role' by someone not a million miles away from here too... just call me Marc Guinea Pig from now on!
RFChris Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 I'm gutted tbh, but work pays the money. If i had a bit more notice maybe. Ahhhhh well. Let us know when its on! Chris
