Stu_B Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Help I've snapped the pins off my locking wheel nut tool!! How can I remove them? the centre of the nut is hollow & threaded - can I screw in a bolt with a couple of nuts locked on & undo it that way (like how you would retighten a loose stud?)
Stu_B Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 The problem is it's one of those shitty round ones!! A bit like this but four pins & the centre is hollow with a 16mm thread http://www.neobrothers.co.uk/images/loc ... 20nuts.jpg
Twinkle Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 it works on those m8 mine were the same, for some reason had 3 different sets on the same car but only 2 keys!! lol use one of the sockets with lots of the little bits rather than the flat sided ones
Tom Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 mate you're lucky. the metal on those is soft as shit smack a bi hexagonal socket on it, 18mm or an imperial one. make sure it goes on tight, put a knuckle bar on it and start putting pressure on it but at the same time keep hitting the back of the knuckle bar to keep the socket on tight and help with removal
Stu_B Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 Cheers, I'll go round my dads & nick one of his haggard ones, not using my shiny chromes! haha
Copey Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 use one of the sockets with lots of the little bits very technical twink

antz Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 worked for me when i over tightenedn mine
jayson2.3pinto Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 if that dont work get the welder out and weld a bar to the wheel nut
Cookie Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 They come off a piece of piss mate, I find with them, if the first socket rounds it off it's usually cos they got a soft sh*tty casing around them, bang the next size down (usually changing to imperial/af/ww sometimes helps) and bang it on like your demented and it will come off no probs, then spend 1/2 hour trying to remove said bolt from socket in vice And if all that fails, the welded bar or big nut trick will never fail
