i know a few people on here have got yards & workshops so i thought i would ask where you find them as the places ive seen are silly money new units or dont want cars there ? all i want is somewhere that i can leave a car, work on it,store the stuff i need or break it up for spares  but all the places i new years ago have been knocked down/rebuilt  so anyone in the northwest no any farmers with an empty barn ??? as the one i thought i had has changed his mind again

I know what your saying m8, I have had a lockup/garage now for past 3 years, 1st one for a year and the one i'm in now, just over 2 years, but always on a knife edge wether or not this is the last month or not before blokey sells up or knocks it down

I got the 1st one through word and mouth, and my present one was advertised in local free paper, I was lucky as i was a late caller and bloke had a list of folk that wanted it and had promised it to a mini-specialist but man was a day late with deposit, I was half way down list and all the numbers he rang b4 me were either off or no answer, so I was bang in there chucked my 500 notes deposit in his hand and was in! more luck than anything, right place, right time and all that :D

With regards to all old places being knocked down. it's exactly the same around here, Barry docks used to be huge and full to the brim with old garages/units, no drama in finding one then, you basically had your pick, not anymore though, same as a lot of dock areas now, being demolished and having fancy waterfront apartments built :evil: there is hardly anything left of the 'old skool docks' that i grew up around :(

They do built some new units though but as you say they won't even talk to you as soon as you mention cars, and if they do they want £700 a month before any bills etc to rent a poxy 1100 sq ft :evil:

I would say your best bet is to go to local letting agents as sometimes they get lock up come onto their books, scour the papers or as you say go and find a farmer who wants a bit of cash in his hand on the qt every month :D

Wish you luck in your search mate

cookie - farmers are a strange breed as ive been to see loads of them all run down non working farms so wouldnt damage any produce, but look at you like you have 10 heads !!! think some of them are ARMISH ??? then the others love to store caravans as they dont have to do anything as they just sit there & move once a year or they have been bought by someone to devolope into there estate when the buy there lord & lady of the manor title of the internet  the problem with letting agencies now is all the messing about as i no a few places now that are now in what they call "brown belt land" so it limits what the land can be used for plus they are all on about H&S,fire regs, waste licenses, liabilatey insurance !!!!!! oh well i'll keep dreaming  i even spoke to one bloke that has a big barn/shed & a huge empty compound round it & he stores industrial bins & skips in the shed (only takes up about 1/4 of the barn ) asked him compound is for commercial vechiles (should have got a recovery truck !!!! ) & this made me laugh the skips & bins are inside "so they dont get damaged & wet "

ive got to lock ups at the minute but there 30 mins drive from apart & i cant get to the cars cos of stuff in them :x they are cheap but when you add them up over the month plus getting to them i thought i would try & find somewhere bigger in one place instead of gettting afew places dotted everywhere  i think with 8000+ members we should give £1 a week & buy some land & rent it out OLDSKOOL STORAGE
