Right then boys and girls .... I have a ministocks mini which I need to sell cos I need to free up some space on the driveway.

It hasn't been running for over a year, however, Ian did try to start it a couple of times in the summer and it turns over fine it just doesn't fire up.

He cleaned the plugs and charged the battery but no luck.

I bought a new coil but Ian hasn't tried it since I bought it.

I'm sick of looking at the damn thing on the driveway and so Smoke Em has very kindly offered to come round on Saturday and help to try and get it started ... so .....

any advice on what we should try next and what tools/parts might be needed so I can get bits in for Saturday  or if anyone is in North Hampshire on Saturday that fancies coming and giving us a hand you will be very welcome and I will provide tea and cakes :thumbsup:

It ran perfectly fine when it was last run in September 06

Thank you muchly

Oh, and if anyone wants to buy the mini, it's for sale

No expert on mini's but assuming it is running points that would be my first port of call, allso if it's been stood for a year you will probably want to get some fresh fuel in it.Might be worth pulling the carb off and check it's not gummed up

hope this helps

if you need any mini bits i might have spares.......dampness is a main problem with mini's has the dizzy is right at the front.....make sure its not damp at all-one thing people do is cut up a coke bottle and stick it over the dizzy and leads to stop it a bit

might sound daft but try towing it or bump starting it as i had the same problem with a mk3 escort 1.1 changed most bits & it just turned over & wouldnt start & was told to try that & it worked  with it being a mini stock dont the have to have a cut out/imobilser ??? could it be that ?

CheeRS guys ..... KJ did say to try the dizzy as they are prone to dampness there so that is gonna be on the list for Saturday too

With regard to the cut-off - yes it has the cut-off but surely it wouldn't turn over at all if that was faulty as it cuts the power completely :? It' was turning over when we last tried, just not firing.

As everyone above is saying, change the points and dizzy cap. My sister had a metro that wouldn't start after it had been parked on grass for a week. Dampness got into the distributor. Changed that and it was fine.

Also, if it's still got the SU carb, take the top off and put some oil down just incase the piston is sticking.

Do you have pics of it Jo?

An old school mate of mine used to do mini stock and he may be intrested? Also how much was you looking for once its up and running?

if you need any bits jo just gimme a shout, i got sheds full  check that fuel is getting to the carb, and also check that the dashpot on the carb isnt sticking, then check all the points, firing order etc and it should go  you could try moving the dizzy aswell to get it to fire  and are you still after what you wanted for it last time?

Thanks everyone. I would like £300 for it. I paid £360 for it and have made some adjustments to suit a smaller driver. I'll take some pics later.

Thanks Kev, I'll let you know how we get on - much appreciated

Jo my mate , take the fuel pump off un screw the bottom and make sure its working , they tend to cease up and go all gunky if left for a while . it happens with the bangers all the time wen we run them on pumps
