What to pay???

Hi i'm new to the site and looking at getting back into the world of old ford's

 

I had a mk1 escort as my first cat some 12 year's ago and even now i'm driveing a nice 3 year old fiesta i carn't stop thinking about owning a mk1/2 escort again.

 

I've been looking around at some but am waiting for the right one to come along when a guy at work said his brother had one in a garage

 

It turn's out his father brought it new in 1977 (year i was born) and 8 year's ago gave it to his oldest son who drove it for 4 year's since then it's been stood up, the car is a white mk2 2door auto 1.3 with 70,000 miles on the clock, i've been informed it is in resonable condition but does require some body work of which i'm not sure as i've yet to view the car

 

The guy who own's it is now in his 60's and has told me to go have a look and make an offer.......but i'm unsure of what to offer as i've seen mk2's go for anything from £200-£12000

 

If any one has got any idea what i should do it would be great to hear from you and also what is the part's situation on old mk2's these day's as if it need's pannels would i be able to get hold of them?

auto YFKT, bigger tunnel ! panels are available it depedns on the extent of bodywork needed, try and get some pics if you can

will make £1500-2k if you had to sell on

mk2 2 door? i'd guess at about the 1k mark, depending upon condition, maybe more

Personally I wouldn't offer more than £500... but I am a cheapskate

if its got the original strut tops 1K but its worth a lot more
