Josh_gsy Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 a 1600 for my cortina... spoke to some guy today who wrote of his mk2 escort years ago but still has the engine. it aint been ran up for a year. he has done the evil idea of saying name me a price and i'll see so.... how much is a 1600 xflow worth with a kent cam in? cheers Josh
Mr Sam Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 sump will more than likely be wrong and believe you me getting hold of a front bopwl sump is easier said than done
lee_capri Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 i would'nt pay no more than £100 for it me my self, unless i could hear it running, you might want to check the lug's on the cam as well before offering him money, has it might be worne, trouble wiht buying something you cant test or hear is that their is the small amount out their who will do any-thing to get some cash.
Josh_gsy Posted December 4, 2007 Author Report Posted December 4, 2007 so putting a 1600 xflow in aint just a case of take one out drop one in?! damn!
Gareth Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 You'll already have a front bowl sump on the existing engine.... I'm sure they're the same capacity
Josh_gsy Posted December 4, 2007 Author Report Posted December 4, 2007 how can i/where can i found out whether the are/or not?
deluxemk1 Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 yeah fair price I reckon. You need a m2 cortina 1600e sump to put it the right way round. try this number 01344 304064 or 07802811566 classic ford parts bracknell .Think the guys name is paul if memory serves me right really good bloke ive had loads of stuff off him in the past.
Tom Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 there's a front bowl 1600 for sale in the Old Skool parts room mate - have that and then i'll have the rear bowl escort one off ya
Josh_gsy Posted December 6, 2007 Author Report Posted December 6, 2007 yea nice i'll see how much he wants for this engine and i'll let you know bout the sump if i get it!
Dalek Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 a 1300 x-flow sump wont go on a 1600. Yes it will... but the crank will rub on it.... You can bash the sump out to clear (bodge) but you would be better getting the correct sump. So you will need a rubber seal type sump since it's an escort based engine, front and rear covers, pickup pipe and a dipstick. Craig
Josh_gsy Posted December 7, 2007 Author Report Posted December 7, 2007 cheers do i not have to by the dipstick after tho... so i can make sure it is the right lenght depending on how much oil is in there? thinking about it i nee a new one for my cortina cause its reading low.
