Get out there and drive mate... if you dont go and meet the fear head on then it becomes inset and you wont ever have any chance of doing it again...

I've been involved in crashes both on and off the track and rally stage (not all my fault.. honest). It would be easy, especially with something like that to just walk away... you dont need to do it so why put yourself in that position???

The one that sticks with me was when i flipped a go kart in a practice session.. slid off, hit the wall, kart flew up in the air and i flew out of it and back across the track.. all because i was sure i could take the corner flat out.

It would have been easy to pack up and go home and as a result i prob would never have competed again, but after a medical check calming down i got back in the ( now slightly bent) kart, drove up to the same corner again, sweating bucket loads, and went round it, ok lifted off a little this time.

Its something that is undoubtedly shit scary doing the first time... especially after something like has happened to you, but every time you drive it will get a little less scary untill it affects you driving no more..

Get in the car mate.. go for a spin during the night or whenever. It may even help to go back to the corner where you came off... and even if you go round it at 2mph it will help!!!

(bloody hell thats alot of writing!)

Good luck mate!

theres no way im going down that road again cos:

a)its near coventry so 3 hours away from me but down the road from the gf

b)ive never driven the road personally

c)its a notorioulsy bad road!

i drove back from coventry in the dark last night and was a bit scared...its just the thing that what if i crash, slide off, someone hits me etc etc etc....its just made me realise how easy it is!!!!!

im not bothered about driving but its the doubt thats there i dont want cos i was fine before

then again when i spun the escort i didnt attempt drifting for months

I lost the beemer the other day and went up a bank  just reversed up and kept going (a bit slower on the corners ;))

Don't worry you'll soon forget about it, i crashhed the grey mk1 in the picture in july this year. A spin on the m6 motorway sent me into the barrier and i near enough SHAT MYSELF had the shakes for a bit and felt abit iffy about motorways for a bit, just cruise and relax :D

yeh u are lucky

ive had a bad week and i think that was the end of my luck  last week i saw a 3 car pilup take place, then on friday nearly lost the volvo which ended in a good arse out drift without intention and then nsaturday night was the bang

Everytime ive had a shit in the pants moment ive gone back and made sure i did it again. I learnt it from riding BMX that if you hurt yourself doing something and dont get up and re-do it, youll never do it again.

thanks guys!!!

ive seen crashes etc etc but never been in one so it was a bit weird and it does throw ya confidence :(

there is no King way im driving that road though cos its dicing with death.

after my first crash i didn't drive for 3 months. this was partly cos my car was totalled and partly cos i didn't have the balls.

that crash was 6 years ago - i'm still wary of cars coming from my left side

it teaches you respect for your car, and to know your limits

yeh i see your point....the only thign s i wasnt the one drivin  i was only a passenger but its made me wary of wet roads, dark nights and the nightmares of understeer...

think im gonna go down the road and drive it myself next time im down there :?

You gotta get back in & drive! It's not easy at first but you'll soon forget about it, fear is there to keep you safe, not stop you from doing stuff!!

Just wait till you've heard the sound of metal on brick - that is a horrible noise & still makes me cringe after I put my capri into a wall!!

Posted

ive heard the sounds of vlvo door meeting brick wall and knocking wall over :lol:

but car meets car with screams and smoke and steam does stick in ya mind

I feel for you bud but you will get over it i once had an accident and i felt the same as you but i conquered my fear i think by doing a banger race i think now its a pleasure to drive on the road after that
