Hi, I’m looking for a feature car for PPC magazine. Do you remember the sort of tuned Mk2 Escort that everyone wanted in the 80s ? Well that’s what I’m looking for.

A two door Mk2 with the sort of street rally look that was really popular 20 odd years ago – and still is. I can recall as a kid seeing loads of Escorts with this sort of look in the car park at Brands. A clean straight understated car that looks right with lowered suspension, quarter bumpers, four spokes, alleycats or Minilites and big rally Cibies.

Under the cool exterior there would always be a good mix of proven mods and that’s what we’d like but it’s got to be in period. A Pinto with twin Webers is a good start but other than that we’re interested in anything that was happening to Escorts when Mrs Thatch was dealing with the miners.

It’s all happening in the first week of January so if there’s nothing happening at work and you’ve got the right car get in touch. Either pm me or e mail me at graham@ppcmag.co.uk

Cheers.

I thought PPC mag didn't like the lame "old skool" scene?

I'm sure there are many Escorts that fit the bill on here....if the site gets thank you in the write up.

I wouldn't take that comment too seriously, the bloke that made that remark has two Escorts and has had dozens of other old Fords and is by far the biggest old Ford nut on the mag.

I always make a point of thanking anyone that has helped with a feature in any way. I think it's a bit rude not to and politeness costs nothing.

I read your mag quite often, and i do like it. But im ever so slightly offended by the comment about the lame old skool scene, likewise many people on here feel similar.

How ironic is it that youve just come to OLD SKOOL ford for a feature car.

How about you sort that comment out and people would be more willing.

Dont take offense to this, or be scared away, just look at the situation from our point of view.

oh look......2 door.....what about 4 doors??? or arent they good enough for a feture? :?:(

Please don't be offended. Twenty plus years ago most young hoons wanted a two door. In those days a two door didn't fetch maga bucks becausue the rally boys had plenty to choose from if their car needed to be re shelled or they were building a car.

These days things are of course very different and a four door is the most economical way into a rwd Escort. It's probably the better car for day to day use, certainly more convenient but this piece is in period so we need a two door.

The guys come to the site for help & you're all being arsey cos of one comment!! No wonder there are views of a 'lame old skool scene'!!

Lame, Naff  I didn't read it, nor am I offended by it. I just don't think these are the best responses to change that view. I'm sure they also don't reflect the attitude of most of the members

I think you're right Stu. I was looking for a very specific car last summer and got a lot of slagging BUT I also got pointed in the direction of exactly the right car and I was kind of hoping fort the same thing again. But with less slagging perhaps.

Slightly o/t but did anyone see the Professionals last night? Keith Barron played a terrorist and in his get away he bent a 72 three door Mk3. It made me wince but I suppose at the time it was a 7 year old car that nobody gave a toss about. It's hard to imagine the same feeling in twenty years time about an early Mondeo.

Exactly! Anyway I can assure you you will enjoy doing a mag feature with Flemo. Why not a hot crossflowed Mk2 Escort rather than a pinto?

Cheers Paul.

I don't know why a Pinto as opposed to a X flow but that's what the ed asked me to get. They don't often do a lot with Pintos' so it will make a change, I guess it more representative of the period.
