Noodles Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Whats the biggest I can get my 13 inch steels banded to, iv dropped it two inches and will be floding the rear lip up, what size and what tyres
V8ian Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Wellers used to do 10" steels with strenghening struts welded to support the hoops and stop excess load thru the hub of the wheel which was prone to cracking with anything much more than a 8", TBH the width of the rim is dictated by the tire size that is available, 235s are findable, but I would think not easy, gone are the days when you could run Dunlop Racing Tires on the street and get away with it by buffing the "For Racing Purpose only" off the sidewall, the compounds today dont allow the longevity for street use, Ian
Guest MK1gaz Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Yes check your tyre sizes first as the wide ones come + go like the weather . Also most of the very wide road legal 13 inch tyres have a baloon profile so you'll be jacking the back up to fit the wheels and not lowering it !!!!!!!
Noodles Posted January 3, 2008 Author Report Posted January 3, 2008 iv seen 13 inch with 50mm tyre wall
huxmk1estate Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 iv seen 13 inch with 50mm tyre wall 13x7 banded
Stu_B Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 These are both 50 tyrewall the fronts are 175/50/13 & the rear 235/50/13 check out the difference!! The 50 is a percentage of the width which is mm
james p Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 iv seen 13 inch with 50mm tyre wall 13x7 banded i dont think youll get bigger on there
mk1mexico Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 iv seen 13 inch with 50mm tyre wall The '50' number on the tyre is for example in a 175/50 tyre it means 50% of 175mm
