Escortavo Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 love that, never knew they did a mk2 with a crossflow 1600 only pintos so must be rare i guess? love a tranny got the chassis deciphered and apparently she is an earlier model which came with a 1600 crossflow....
FredTransit Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 Yup she's a Mk2 phase1, ran from 1978 to 1984. Some of the very early mk2s had Mk1 engines (even the V4!) but this is the first one I have heard of with a crossflow. Many early Mk1s had thames bits on them, so same thing with the Mk2. She could have been bought unregistered to add to a fleet like a police force or water board, and registered when needed. I know of a Mk2 parcel van that was Thames Water originally, probably 1985 but it's on an E plate. There's no reason not to think that is what happened with your van. Also we have an E reg Mk2, which was bought by the first reg keeper from the liquidator after the company that ordered her from Ford went bust before she was registered. By the time the liquidation was through, it was nearly time for the E reg so they waited to get that reg on the Mk2.

FredTransit Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 I love it when a plan comes together!
scotty86d Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Would hot crosslfow have enough torque to warrant doing that to it? Either bog std or drop a 24v cossie lump in that. Looks like a cool project
