Is it me or is the postal service provided by the PO shocking? In what other industry would you have to pay over and above the basic charge to insure that the service was provided – can you imagine going to a restaurant and asking “burger and chips please”, waiter: “that’s £5.00 or £7.00 and we guarantee you will get it”, “oh right what do I get for £5.00 then?”, waiter “well for £5 you may get it you may not – not my problem mate” its outrageous! OK fair enough if your posting something expensive to insure it but why should we have to pay more just to get the basic service??

In the last year I have had a package to my brother go missing including CDs, books and a shirt for his birthday (unable to claim back any money as I didn’t have the receipts), some roller top mounts from mexico on here go missing (that he had no end of hassle claiming money back for) and now it seems that some mk2 panels I ordered from a reputable ebayer have got lost in the post by the admission of the PO! WTF??? Where is all this stuff going??? Is there a huge warehouse somewhere where all the lost stuff goes? Or is it nicked by the workers in the sorting office? Or are the post men just too lazy to deliver it so they dump it all behind a hedge somewhere??

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me??

I work for royal mail and we have been royally shafted ourselves. the insurance i believe isn't to make sure you get your item it's incase the worst happens and it does go missing so that you can claim for it. also trust me when i say that i know of no postie that is "too lazy to deliver it so they dump it all behind a hedge somewhere". If they did they woudn't have a job for very long.

i apreciate that mate, and im sure its not the fault of the posties or the sorters more the system. HOWEVER why should I have to pay more incase the PO who I have already paid screw up and loose my parcels?? its not my fault if the PO or any other organisation looses my property. Imagine taking your clothes to the dry cleaners, they loose them and refuse to cover the cost of them as you didnt pay for insurance against their incompitence?

does that make sense? basically the PO loose my stuff and it seems I have to pay for it - thats b0llox

out of interest - as a postie yourself, where does all the lost or un-delivered stuff go??

PO's been going downhill for ages

First class now seems to take 3 days to arrive!

I've had items go missing in the past too, parcels arriving with torn packaging & things, a record I sent snapped in half despite it saying fragile, do not bend on the package

I'd like to know too i bet theres some good stuff in there... :ykt:

Sorry to hear your bad luck mate-thought the Roller tops issue was a one off-seems not though...

I ALWAYS pay for insurance now-even though as John states i shouldnt have to-i can understand a letter going missing in the machine or something-but a box or package?? So what does happen to packages 'found' - assuming they have an address will they get forwarded, and if not are they just dumped or what?? :(

anything with a return address would get sent back, say if the destination address was incomplete, etc. i agree with you that there should be a form of insurance in the standard price and maybe extra insurance for more expensive packages. really how are the company to know what was in the package and its worth. :?

Bring back the Royal Mail first class service!!

Make stamps 40.....50p each, what ever, but get the other couriers off the road, give it to one company, less traffic, less polution, MUST be cheaper!!

I have four couriers come into my work in one day. Why?? This must be dearer!! :? (four drivers, four vans, 16 tyres, etc) Some things should be a monopoly and IMHO this is one of them. Oh and the Health service. Anyone who has enough money for private health insurance and thinks the health service isn't good enough for them, sticks it in the pot!!

Uh oh - imigrants - free health, oh no big debate. But we should be able to look after our elderly population with decent health service - they've paid into it... :ykt:

Whoa!! Bit off subject but needed saying!!:lol:

Ahhhh I feel better, or do I??:lol::?:beer::P:shock:
