FlashCadillac Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 the big bit at the top... one of them is solid and how it should be, the passenger one wobbles and twists and all the splins are mangled do they come off and how before i break it trying.... can you buy replacements Cheers
Jubfab Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Not familiar with the MK1 - but suspect that this will be a generic part to other Ford models of the period. You can't service them but i'm sure you'll be able to seperate the whole n/s spindle and swap for one in better nick. If there the same as a MK2 Tina remember I have that 1600e that will be no more soon .. Best thing to do is take the whole wiper link out and give it a proper check over. The drivers side might be ok now due to lack of use, however may end up like passenger side after a short time...
FlashCadillac Posted January 24, 2008 Author Report Posted January 24, 2008 hmm... didn't realy want to take it out.... i dont know how to get it out, too many wires in the way ill see if i can get the bit of the top.... and see if its the same as the mk2 tina
Rick Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 yeah pretty much just try not to bend your scuttle if its on tight... soak it in somet like wd40 first
Muttley MK2 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 If I remember rightly the bit on the end is ally and is pressed onto the steel shaft. It will take a bit of force to get it off and you may not be able to get a replacement unless you have a spare wiper rack. Its not designee to come off so bear that in mind.
sparkycapri Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 you need to take the wiper assembly out from under the dash and then replace the part once its out. i have a few mechs if needed.
