Savvi Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Russ came and picked up my Mk1 escort today ...............but i had got up early to collect my latest edition .................. and yes its a 4 door !!!!! 1600 Ghia all original except a new Ashley exhaust and a K&N air filter. It's done 52500 miles from new and i have all the old Mot's etc. I'm not sure about the colour but in this condition i'll live with it By buying a 4 door it means with a set of rear seatbelts...... URGENTLY NEEDED ....... i can still go to some shows this year and take the kids with me, i've been told i'm not allowed to go on my own !!!!! I think you will agree it was worth getting up early and driving 2 hours each way to collect ?
Slammed Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 really nice clean escort! different set of wheels and a drop and your'e there
Rick Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 iv seena 4 door like thatb local to me., wonder if it could be the same one. did you get it from the west mids
bomber1 Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 cool car that looks in good nick all the seat belt holes should be in the shell so its just a case off getting a set of rear belts out of a simlar size saloon
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Nice one mate , the 4 door is a minter
Savvi Posted February 9, 2008 Author Report Posted February 9, 2008 It came from Gillingham in Dorset but the guy had only had it since July before that it was in Reading which is about 25 miles from me !!!

Savvi Posted February 9, 2008 Author Report Posted February 9, 2008 Cant stay away from them !!! It's more pratical for me with the family, and i wont have to spend loads of time repairing it,getting it how i want it .......hopfully !!!!
Stu_B Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Saw this car today... pics don't do it justice!
escortmad79 Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 It came from Gillingham in Dorset but the guy had only had it since July before that it was in Reading which is about 25 miles from me !!! Certainly well travelled DV is a Devon prefix so came from Devon originally
Savvi Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 Yes it did, i know cos it's got a "Reeds of Torbay" rear window stcker and on the number plates !!! But that's fine with me i originally come from Plymouth and we know how to look after cars properly !!! I think the Reading guy was a dealer that bought it to sell on again so if you include the "dealer" its had 3 owners. The guy i bought from emailed me last night and he's had a load of abuse cos he pulled the ebay ad !!! 8 emails 2 of which said it was only worth £650 & £750 and he should have sold it to them for that !!! He said i was the only one who asked for a number to talk to him and agree to pay what he asked for.He had sold the car the week before for over £1300 but the guy couldn't collect for 3 weeks and he needed it gone before the 15th Feb.He stated in the ad what he would take yet some people were still trying it on !!!! We all like a bargain but sometimes you have to pay full price and at £1200 this car is worth every penny to me
mrmoo Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 lovely, i like it nothing wrong with a 4door dude, ive been lookin for a osf 4door for family duties its that or fitting rear belts in the back of the capri how on earth do you get a baby seat to fit a mk1 capri bucket seat???
Savvi Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 I did some research and the Capri rear belts are the same as Fiesta ? Have a look here: http://www.securon.co.uk/seat_belts_firstframe.htm Click Applications then Ford 2 door is nice but a pain to get kids in and out, they kick all the trim etc and you have to lean in to fasten seat belts !!
Stu_B Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 I have a set of rear belts I removed from my mk3 'tina, I'd have brought them yesterday If I'd have known!
mrmoo Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 im goin to get the rear seats out and look for seat belt mounting points soon patching rust and sorting out mot work is more important at the mo ive got rear celica seat belts im going to try and fit but thanks for the thought, ill post up a new thread if theres probs
Mad Mex Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 nice car bud! But wud say that, its the twin of mine! Cept some minilites n slam job! Gwan the 4 doors
Savvi Posted February 10, 2008 Author Report Posted February 10, 2008 I ve been looking at the wheels today ................. not sure if or what to fit ? Been for a nice drive in the sun today, wasn't sure of the air filter and exhaust mods until today .......... it sounds crisp and goes well, just ask the yellow 2.9 efi Capri that we followed for a while it took a while for him to lose me.
escortmad79 Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Yes it did, i know cos it's got a "Reeds of Torbay" rear window stcker and on the number plates !!! Reeds is my local Ford dealer. The garage it was sold at was pulled down for redevelopment a few years ago. They have a new garage near Torquay fire station. You got a bargain at that price, it looks mint
D4N Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Nice 4 door. Im starting to realy like the 4 door mk2 escorts
