mk1mexico Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Bit of a strange request this, but bear with me im not about to come round your house and steal it Im putting a St170 engine in my escort and im struggling like hell to get an inlet cam oil seal. FORD parts computer is as much use as a chocolate fireguard. It just brings up the part number for the exhaust cam seal which, contrary to what the ford 'technician' says fookin doesnt fit!!!! They need to do a technical enquiry for ford HQ but they want a reg number and VIN number and seeing as i bought the engine in a cardboard box i dont have either. So i could do with borrowing the numbers to put into the ford computer.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 21, 2008 Admin Report Posted February 21, 2008 I think Daggle may have one
Copey Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 isnt it the engine from a Volvo?? maybe give volvo a try?
mk1mexico Posted February 21, 2008 Author Report Posted February 21, 2008 Nah the new Focus St is a volvo derived 5 cyl lump, this is a posh zetec 4 pot
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Yeah Daggle has one I doubt he will want to give out his numbers though, but if you ask him nicely, he may order one from Ford's for you
tim Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 you dont need a reg number to find it,there just being lazy, took all of 5 secs to find, inlet VVT 1067029 exhaust VVT 1057149 from a fords partman
V8ian Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 The problem may arise because the ST170 is not a Zetec, its a Duratec derived engine, basically a Mazda engine
tim Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 The problem may arise because the ST170 is not a Zetec, its a Duratec derived engine, basically a Mazda engine no its not,the ST170 engine is a zetec based engine, just vvt and a steel bottom end but it is badged as a duratec
mk1mexico Posted February 21, 2008 Author Report Posted February 21, 2008 Its a zetec badged as a duratec. And Tim they are the numbers i get at ford, but 1067029 (the one i need) is in stock, but its clearly not the right one for the job. Hence they want to do a techical enquiry to ford HQ, and thats what i need the reg number/VIN for

mk1mexico Posted February 22, 2008 Author Report Posted February 22, 2008 Ok panic over, went to FORD again this morning as they had ordered an exhaust seal just in case they were mixed up on the computer database. And hey ho it fits Moral of the story 'if your inlet cam seal starts leaking on your ST170........... order an exhaust cam seal and it will be fine '
