Silly question really but i thought maybe i would do a poll on it to get an idea of how many people there are against it. To be honest i think the whole thing is an absolute outrage and i cant believe their is not a site thats been made yet thats against the whole thing.

I drive an artic in and out of london and the daily charge is £200 luckily we are euro 5 so it dont count but all the old owner drivers who cant afford new motors are pretty much stuffed you cant pass that cost onto a customer another typical money robbing scam by the government

I know what your saying mate as i have asthma as well i just think this is another money making scheme for the government.

 

I think saying that cars are ruining the planet (which maybe they are) is silly when there are planes constantly taking off from airports throughout England putting out huge amounts of pollution from the Aviation Fuel they burn (Planes that Ken Livingstone Gets On Regularly ).

i sympathise with the asthma sufferers ive got a daughter who suffers from it but the thing that fuks me off is. ive got lorries that pass the mot emission test every year then some cock from tfl comes up with this shit after having the cats fitted take lorries to vosa tohave them signed off and have another emission test it didnt change the out come one bit my engine emissions were under there new level to start with but cos it was a 1998 lorry they say no good mate gotta have the cat fitted so bang goes that theorey about older engines its a money making scheme that will put small firms under simply cos of the age of there lorries not cos they dont reach emission standards and as for protesting against it even the RHA didnt do anything to help its not a government scheme so they wont get involved its down to RED KEN AND HIS TEAM OF TOTAL CUN@S ... you have 3 choices have the cats fitted / buy modern lorries / or go out of business oh or pay £200 a day... but tfl will tell ya there not in it for the money... yeh right

As for the new congestion charge - how can they even call it a congestion charge when it differentiates on the emissions of your vehicle? Surely it will now have to be called a 'If you've got enough money to drive something flash then you can stump up £25 a day to sit in traffic in the centre of London cause congestion charging makes fook all difference to the amount of traffic charge'

 

I ocassionally have to do a job inside the congestion charge zone, so when I sit in the traffic in the morning in my van full of tools that I need to do the job, what am I surrounded by? i would say at least 70% commercial vehicles/taxis/buses, all sitting in traffic cause we need to be in the centre of London to keep the capital fuctioning. The job I do is for e-on so i just put the congestion charge on the bill and in the end we all end up paying for it!

I totaly agree on planes and those huge cargo ships cause more damage to the enviroment than all the cars on the road

they can't ban old vehicals from London if they could they would but it would infringe on the owners human rights, so they do the next best thing and hit em in the wallet which basicly does the same thing, do you really think if they had banned all old vehicals from London there wouldn't be a thread exactly the same as this except it would be moaning about the banning and not about the charge, the difference would be what? you'd be buying a new lorry instead of an exhaust filter

At the moment the LEZ only covers lorry's which if are not new enough cost £3000-£5000 to be converted so that they pass the emissions test which for older lorry's will have to be taken every 12 months but if the lorry is newer than 2002 i think:? then it does not have to have any tests or anything

 

And by 2010 the LEZ will include all diesel vans and even campers over 1.25 tonnes that are registered before 2002. The vans/campers that are before that have to be converted which costs around £3000 and then they have to have an emissions test every 12 months

 

So to be honest i think it would be cheaper and easier just to sell your old van/camper and get one thats newer than 2002

 

Either that or we cause enough mayhem by roadblocking etc to stop them going ahead with the law on the vans/campers

 

There however is nothing that can be done about the lorry's as that law has already been passed
