nelly231 Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 i have fitted a bolt in cage into my mk2 escort and now it seems to be in the way of refitting the standard seatbelts at the bottom of the B post. has any one else had this trouble or know of an easy solution?
allanmex Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 my seat belts bolt to the bottom of the cage. failing that, fit a set of harnesses
nelly231 Posted March 9, 2008 Author Report Posted March 9, 2008 i thought about bolting to the cage but not sure if thats MOT legal. gonna fit harnesses anyway as its a trackday car but wanted standard belts as well as its easier for the road.
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 you need the early type seat belts then they will fit
Pipster007 Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 gonna fit harnesses anyway as its a trackday car but wanted standard belts as well as its easier for the road. Once you get used to the harnesses, you wont be bothered about the standard belts Plus.................think of all that additional weight of the standard belts
Rick Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 youve caged it you may aswelkl fit harnesses. hard as fook to get on it your taller than 4' but
Retromotorsport Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Take it its an old cage .. as the newer .. probably for the last 10 years .. SD cages came with a welded boss for the lower mount. If not its Harness time
mk1estate Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 I had this trouble years ago with my old mk2. I moved the seat belts to the panel under the rear seat. After i used a thick bit of steel to strengthen it of course. It worked but the belts were annoyingly fickle at pulling them over you. Probably better off with harnesses mate?
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 got to have harrness"s you soon get used to them for the road too
nelly231 Posted March 10, 2008 Author Report Posted March 10, 2008 i bought the cage second hand so not sure of its age. i think i will MOT it with harnesses and see if i get fed up with them on the road. interesting about being able to fit the early type belts, are they smaller?
