i'm not that bothered what output my engine has as i'm more than happy with how it performs :D but as with most people i would always like more power (human nature i suppose) but unless i come into some money that won't happen so as with most things in my life i'm very satisfied with what i've got :D:D:wink:

I can't speak for anyone else but I just want to go fast and rag the holy bejesus out of my car. To go fast you need to spend money or know how to build a fast car.

I would'nt say I was into "willy wagging" and if you dont want to spend your money on a "fast engine" etc then thats your perogative.

In all fairness though your in a "catch 22" position. As most of you know Ive just had a new engine built and it was'nt cheap. The figures Ive quoted are what the builder has quoted me. IMO it makes more sense to quote a figure rather than tell you its "fast" as that does'nt equate to anything does it :?

The most important thing though for me is that I'm happy with the power Ive got and as long as it proves to be reliable, then I'll stay happy

Good point Phil... If someone can put their finger on it and describe why men (and girls  ) love fast cars or otherwise then they're a better wordsmith than me...

But, For me it's a plain simple petrolhead passion... :ykt:

I loved OSF way back cause they were fast and I love them now cause they're even faster... Notwithstanding that I like many old cars OSF or otherwise, fast or slow simply for their aesthetics and if they are fast it's even more of a wow factor... 8)8)

i think as long as you enjoy your car thats it, as for money i like my car to be the best i can afford it to be, i dont smoke, go to the pub or gamble, so i spend my money on my two hobbies, my car and my fishing

Two of the best hobbies in the world :lol:

Hang on. So what people are saying is that people who have worked really hard to get what they want engine, wise and paid out for a pokey lump for their osf, are just bragging???

Fooking hell! I thought sharing your stories about what you have done to your car was the whole point!

If no-one was to mention power figures and just said that thier car was "Quite quick" then there would be a huge part of this forum missing!

There wouldnt be a mk1Gaz anyway!!

sambo`s right if people like ourselves didnt do what we do and mod are motors and that means bhp(engines)etc,we would all be the same,I LOVE MY MOTORS AND PROUD OF THEM, the retroford mag is for modified fords and they wouldnt have nothing to write about. :ykt: its our hobbies that we love and make us skint but if we didnt like it we would do it. :D:D:thumbsup:

Live and let live I say  If people want to spend £1000's on their cars to make them faster and they are financially able to do so then why not. If people are pleased with the performance that has been achieved then I think they should be able to tell others about it ... as long as it isn't "bragging" then good for them

The forum would be a very dull place without people talking about what they have done to their cars, and I certainly don't think it's 'bragging'.

if someone wants to spend their hard earned on their motor then fair play to them, i love seeing people's cars come together, especially when all the juicy bits come together 8):ykt:

My old man spent 5 years and thousands on building a cobra rep. with a big block dodge charger lump in it (approx 500 bhp),but now he's looking at a new motor from the states with 650bhp for nearly 7k-thing is he doesn't drag it,it only goes out when it's hot and sunny and he never boots it-so i can't see the point of spending thousands on a motor when the roads are in such a crap state and there's a speed camera on every straight bit

This post is like a chinese whisper. Add a bit here take a bit there ;)

There are people who discuss, people who exchange info etc etc, but in every walk of life there are the braggers, the big-heads and the loudmouths. If I had the money I'd be spending it on the cars without a doubt. And I'm sure I'd be proud of the results and want to tell everyone about it.

What I originally wanted to know was...

..never mind
