escort greg Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Hi just wondered if anyone knew if you can change ratios on an atlas yourself or is it critical in getting the mesh of the gears right...?
hellblue Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 The best way to do it yourself is swap the axle !! other than that its a axle shop job
escort greg Posted March 18, 2008 Author Report Posted March 18, 2008 Thats what i thought...gutted...my mate said its very critical in getting the mesh of the gears right....cheers
Rick Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 yeah they have to be spot on else they rattle like fook or just lock up and break... i had mine to bits whe fitting new bearings but didnt have the tools to put it back properly. you also have to have a shim made to compensate for the crush washer when the preload is set
kevmk2 Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 You can change the crownwheel yourself easily enough, its just the pinion thats the problem. Easier to take the axle to someone who knows what they are doing
kev16v Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 depends on were ur based m8 we (wpe) can do ur atlas for you no problem
