luz008 Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 now i know this isn't OSF but thought i'd ask anyway i've finally got some compensation from a bike crash and i'm now looking for a fun car for summer that i won't loose much money on (as i want to go travelling in aug) I'm looking possibly at a 911 Targa SC (77-83), insurance isn't too bad due to the age of car and limited milage. just wondering if anyone has had one or have any experience with them? Apart from looking cool, wondering if they are actually decent cars, will be looking for a good condition one, they're about £10/11k ish?? thanks Brett
geoffersmasher Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 at that age ive heard that they have a few probs as they were air cooled and a bit clunky http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-911-Carre ... dZViewItem buy this one
Pipster007 Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 pm Tony, Petrolhead01 he used to work for Porsche for some yrs. He's away on holiday until next week though, so don't expect a reply for a week or so He'll know the in's and out's and what to look for. All I know is, if one has ever had a prang, make sure a Porsche dealer or specialist repaired it, and must have a FPSH or specialist history, but that'll go for any car. For an air cooled Porsche, see if the heat exchangers have been replaced recently
geoffersmasher Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 as long as you buy the best you can afford you will no doubt get a decent car
luz008 Posted March 19, 2008 Author Report Posted March 19, 2008 i'm going to go have a drive in one at the weekend, don't know how good it will be for an everyday car
MK2Ed Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 They are good... Only problem I've heard, and the reason my mate traded his old one in, was a few things were coming up for replacement so the maintenance costs (at Porsche prices) were getting out of hand. This no reason why u shouldn't give one a go though...
