2.3 16v dohc?????????????????????????????

been lookin at motors on ebay and noticed that the scorpio's have a 2.3 16v motor in them, are they any good, does anyone know anymore info on this unit. a 2.3 injected 16v motor the right way round with a 5 speed box seems to good to be true for a couple of hundred quid

Hi m8, I have one, no its not as Pinto block. Its an I4 the same as the 8 valve s1erra twin cam and the Mk5 Escort RS2000 etc..

 

The engines are quite torquey but quite slow, ideal for towing

 

If you want to rape a scorpio for its engine get the Cosworth 200 bhp for about the same money

If they got big torque, you could still make em shift quite nicely with a head skim. Especially in summat as light as a stripped Escort, I reckon it could be good fun.

 

Remember, it's not all about how much it revs to, it's what you do with 'em.
