antz Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 this is the bracket for my washer bottle. theres one bolt which i got off but theres this weird thing holding it to the inner wing. its not a screw. it looks more like a big f**k off rivet. how do i get it off?
antz Posted April 3, 2008 Author Report Posted April 3, 2008 the one tool i dont bloody own i got every other tool in the history of mankind!...except an angle grinder
trispage Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 are you sure its not a cross head screw that has been rounded out ?? If so cut a slot for a flat head screwy and out she pops
Trevmk3 Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 either the grinder like baz said or drill it, looks like its just a rivet
Trevmk3 Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 are you sure its not a cross head screw that has been rounded out ?? If so cut a slot for a flat head screwy and out she pops try this first though in case it is a rounded off screw
antz Posted April 3, 2008 Author Report Posted April 3, 2008 its definately not a screw. the black bit in the middle is some paint that looks like a screw its completely flat on top. looks like a grinder....dont know how big a drill bit ill need
Baz. Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 its a rivet thats got a nut on the other side, you will have to use a pad or be bloody good with a wheel, you dont want to muller the bracket, gradually grind the head off then tap the rivet out
mossy Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 the one tool i dont bloody own i got every other tool in the history of mankind!...except an angle grinder blasphemy that is!
mk1mexico Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 The nut is behind the strut mate, to do it properly the strut will probably have to be dropped

Maybe theres a nut on the inner wing side...
pauldee Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 there is a nut on the other side behind the strut , took one of myself a couple of weeks ago, 10 mm spanner, not easy with the strut on though.
Stu_B Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 the one tool i dont bloody own i got every other tool in the history of mankind!...except an angle grinder I couldn't live without my grinder... mind you if I didn't have one I probably wouldn't have cut the front of my car off
fergus mk2 Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 i u dont car about the bracket use a hammer an chisel
H.P.E harry Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 I remember this on mine, could't work out how to get it off so left it on until i got it sprayed and asked him to grind it off.
antz Posted April 4, 2008 Author Report Posted April 4, 2008 might just get the grinder on it cos im not dropping the strut. it was a bastard to fit in there hmm......wonder if my dremel will work
MightySprocket Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 yep get the dremmel on it! works wonders and easier to control than a grinder
Rick Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 you dont wana have to go frinding to remove that all the other methods sound great but you dont wana risk battering your car witha grinder...
