mart67 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 who runs the above on their car and are they any good on the road in all weathers? Ive looked at avons and yoko's but would like to speak to others before i buy.
Fiesta Steve Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 I've got Yoko A048R's on my Fiesta very good in the dry but haven't really tested them in the wet. A friend of mine put some of the same tyres on his Capri but took them back off 'cos he said they grip so well that it wouldn't go sideways in the wet !! But have heard others who say they are useless in the wet.
mart67 Posted April 5, 2008 Author Report Posted April 5, 2008 cheers mate, ive also heard different views, some good some bad?dont lotus fit the yokos as standard?
Fiesta Steve Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Yes they do m8, that tells me they can't be that bad in the wet, probably down to driver abillity.
V8ian Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Toyo888Rs, good allround tire, and surprising good in the wet too
Mr Sam Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 the mickey thompson drag radials have sufficiant tread to be road leghal dont they?
Mk 1 Mark Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 R888`s come in soft and super soft.... and are an excellent track tyre super soft wont last long on the road though. Did put a number for steve at simply tyres, will get them cheaper genuine than anywhere else
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 I run road legal track day tyres (yoko A032R's) on my Renault 5 turbo and they are much better than normal rubber . They cost twice as much and wear out in a few thousand road miles though . If i fitted them on my mk1 escort then i would kill the rears in a month (depends on sliding and wheelspinng etc )
kevmk2 Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 I found Toyo 888's are very cheap from Martin Hadland from Reyland motorsport, he quoted me £131.35 for 2x 195.50.15 and 4 tyres for £238.71. Simply tyres was £64.62 each inc vat, plus delivery. So slightly cheaper from Reyland with delivery. Free delivery on 4 tyres from them. Yoko 48r's have gone up in price since january. They are around £85-90 a tyre

kevmk2 Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 You could always try the Hoosiers on the road
