V8ian Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Certainly had Mk1 and 2 escorts, and a few cortinas,
radar tech Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Certainly had Mk1 and 2 escorts, and a few cortinas, as above , but they also used some as water pumps for pumpin water upto remote sites and also fire pumps
Savvi Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 They had a fleet of older Fords and use to keep spare engines, i think they re re-conned on site. They were mainly MOD. We used to have a big storage facility near us where the Green Godess fire engines were kept, they sold these engines off when it shut down in the 90's. They were excellent engines and everything had been replaced. I had one in my Mk1 Escort which i sold recently there will be a label on it with what had been done to it i:e rebore +30 etc etc.
Mr Sam Posted April 13, 2008 Author Report Posted April 13, 2008 yeah the one in the link has the MOD lable stating the work done, says it was re-coned in '83 and only been test run since
bortaf Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 from the colour i'd say it was for a pump/genny, seen L/R engines that cloour that where used for huge water pumps
Guest Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Probably a low compression unit used for pumping and the likes, but would be a good basis for a re-build, just replace the pistons and away you go.
