Airbag Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 I just picked up a second hand rollcage and it's got a few scratches and chips in it. I want to paint it but what paint should I use? Would cellulose be ok? or will it react with what paint that is on there?
Mr Sam Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 just remember to wrap it up when you goto squeezing it in the car soon picks up the chips and scratches again manouvering them in
Airbag Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 just remember to wrap it up when you goto squeezing it in the car soon picks up the chips and scratches again manouvering them in I know, it was hard enough just getting it in the car to transport it home today, had to take the back bench out and the inner door handles
Toby Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 I thought they were plastic coated but i don't know. You could blast it back to bare and start again, wouldn't matter what you put on it then. edit spelling
MightySprocket Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 I used Plasticote in aerosol from B&Q on mine, great choice of colours and it doesn't seem to chip

Toby Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Are you painting just the cage or the lawn, the drive and the 2 capris too?
Chris! Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 i dont think you should paint the windows, you might have an accident

MightySprocket Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 that looks very good MightySprocket. Cheers How many cans do you think I will need to do this? it actually goes a long way so 5 max will give a good deep finish with plenty of protection. being a Plastic Paint its quite a lot like powder coating in the fact that it doesn't chip it just dents (if you hit it hard enough) don't know how it will adhere to the lawn though
Airbag Posted May 7, 2008 Author Report Posted May 7, 2008 haha cheers Thats not my lawn tho, or my capris, thats the picture the seller used when it was on ebay.
danny69 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I reckon 2 cans would do it, but being tight i would buy one at a time just in case.
