For those that have been following my many woes with fitting Twin 40's to my pinto.............. Now, the conclusion!!!

 

Being not able to get the car to fire at all after fitment, I decided to try one more time to get the car to fire, so I removed a spark plug and turned cylinder 1 to TDC, checking that Cam was in the correct position as well. Then correctly configured dist cap firing order to 1342. SUCCESS!!! It at least fired and burbled for a few secs.

 

Well...... That was as good as it got. I managed to get the car firing but only on two cylinders. I shoved my hand over each trumpet and found that only one of my carbs was sucking. Deciding that maybe the faulty carb's butterflys were stuck shut, I removed that carb from the manifold.............. Only for a big lump of carb casing to come off in my hand as i removed it. I had obviously overtightened it and created a crack big enough in the carb housing to rue it buggered until i can get it repaired properly:(. Bolloxs:(.

 

So, I have stripped the whole lot back off the car and replaced the original unit just so i can use the car b4 summer has gone. Am really gutted now.

 

Right, anyway, I need a new throttle cable for the car as i cut the old one off but I am not sure exactly what one I need. I know that it fits this...

im sure they stock things like that still take the ol on wid you to compare them
