lee_capri Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 as above can it be done for less then £1000 what do you think
antz Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 depends if you have every bit sat in your garage all ready. you could always use an angle grinder and lighten it to hell
Fiesta Steve Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Cheap Rover V8 and DIY n02 kit Might get one quick run before the whole lot melts
lee_capri Posted May 19, 2008 Author Report Posted May 19, 2008 all we got to worry about is straight line power corner's not needed must be away other then a pinto
Mr Sam Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 get on ebay....get some nitrous and a grinding disk
lee_capri Posted May 19, 2008 Author Report Posted May 19, 2008 right this is the budget for the car it can be a osf of your choice, £1000, you must be able to buy and build a osf for that to run what do you think you will get and how quick do you think you can go, you are alould to have a few pat's laying around but be relistic
Wessie Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 you couldnt even buy a solid OSF for a grand ! let alone mod it but if you've got the contacts, the time, the money, the know how and the mates then you'd have a bloody good chance of doing it
lee_capri Posted May 19, 2008 Author Report Posted May 19, 2008 you couldnt even buy a solid OSF for a grand ! let alone mod it but if you've got the contacts, the time, the money, the know how and the mates then you'd have a bloody good chance of doing it i find them cheap all the time
Fiesta Steve Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Mk1 Fiesta + Crossflow = 13's My XR2 cost me £50, my entire engine was assembled by parts bought from ebay very cheap, plus I had a few parts lying around. I could deffo do it for a grand, especially if it was rwd. For eg. I have just bought a brand new in the box Kent Cam for my new engine of off ebay, price: £21
lee_capri Posted May 19, 2008 Author Report Posted May 19, 2008 i do think you can build something on a budget of £1000 with buying the car and run 13 to 14 second's on a quater, nice one steve i love ebay i got some rs wheel's on sunday with tyre's and nut's for £21
Fiesta Steve Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Can't be hard to run 14.99 It doesn't cost anything to strip the car, and not a lot to cut some more weight out. You'd need to spend every penny on 'go' and none on 'show', pretty much how I have built my 13 second Fiesta really. I'd love to paint it up but just don't have the time
lee_capri Posted May 19, 2008 Author Report Posted May 19, 2008 i was looking a v6s col car and it is awsome more pistions more power and grunt would like to run a 13s just the once it as got to be done
Mr Sam Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 mk1 fiesta + XE + nitrous you have £900 budget left
mossy Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 dunno how you find all these cars mate...especially when you told me about that anglia! Find me some!
ASBO CAPRI Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 I built a cheap 14 second capri solid mk2 capri - £350 from ebay sold the pinto and box from it for £100 Rover V8 with ported heads, edlebrock carb n manifold etc - £775 2.8i 4 speed box and prop from ebay - £20 Rad from a passat - £20 from scrap yard 2.8i LSD from a rotten capper i broke up. - Free (the capper cost me £200 which i used on road for a bit). Kit to fit rover (headers, mounts, sump, bellhousing etc) £700 magnex stainless exhaust that was left over from my chevy capper so - free All that lot + a few other little bits cost me around £1800 and took 3 months to get together. The capri ran 14.6 sec @ 92mph. I was very impressed. If u made your mounts, sump n headers yourself its £1100 or there abouts
ASBO CAPRI Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 I saw an intresting thing in an american mag about a competition to build a drag car for $2000. Some fellas in it built an old chevy nova. They got an old small block chevy from a scrap yard that they had to scotch brite the rusty bores. Home ported the stock heads and stuck a massive cam in it they had kicking around. They made an exhaust for there nova out of scafolding. The chevy mill burnt loads of oil coz it was so worn out, but they dragged it and it ran down in the 10s. 10s for $2000 thats impressive
mk3cokebottle Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 is that the osf challenge for 2009 then build a drag car for a grand ??? teams of 5 each put £200 in the pot and have an equal say in the build no holds or bars receipts for all the parts discount from mates garages ect allowed if given on receipt any car any engine an ian the magic welder man garage tools so who is organising this ????? lee_capri Posted May 20, 2008 Author Report Posted May 20, 2008 that sound's great cokebottle, dont think it would take off though most people have trouble with one car not alone 5 guy's and one car but it does sound a great idea
Wessie Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 i'd have a go, but storage and time is the issue !
