Hi, i use my capri as a daily drive, but also to annoy the more expensive/faster cars and boy racers off the lights. I am currently running a 1600capri diff with a 2ltr pinto..one day to be an XE, the acceleration is ok, but will a LSD help in anyway? ..traction, handling, etc.. :) thanks, shane.

IS it a DIY job? any restriction with it being a 1600 diff? ..the XE will be built for 200 ponies and around 170+lb torque, so id assume the shafts, etc will take that?

I can't comment on the axle strength, but I suspect the CWP in your diff will be a little low geared for a 200bhp XE if it originated from a 1600.

It's only a DIY job if you know what you're doing, I would attempt it unless you're sure of it yourself or have someone with you who is

I consider it an essential bit of kit if you are serious, mines got a 1600 3.77 atlas ratio but with a "torqued up" plate type slipper with 80 ft lb instead of the usual 40 ft lb.

the cappa im using at the moment is a poo open diff... i really miss my diff

all the CWP have the same strentgh and ability to take the power, the 3.09 ratio is no stronger than the 3.44/3.77, allthough the teeth are thicker on the 3.09 one.

i did mine with the help of Quadcam capri, we did mine at home but you need a few special measury kinda gadgety tools, upping the preload to sideways mode is a doddle, takes about 10 mins, fitting is easy but setting the backlash can be a pain.
