i got some 195 45 13s about a year ago fpr 30 quid each, prices seem to have taken a leap since then to allmost double that for a 175 50 13s.

having my steels taken out to 7.5j and im after a good size tyres for em, bearing in mind the capri arch is a fair bit bigger than the others i need a nice compromise between filling the arch and a low profile tyre.

cheers...ive just had a look, remember having 175 50s on my 7.5j x pack rims and remember the fun and games fitting them on too, 2 tyre fitters gave up before i managed to get all 5 put on.

im gona play safe and go for a 185/60 i think, problem is crapi arches are just too big, i think that size is the best compromise between profile and filling the arches. (of course it has nothing to do with the fact they are only 30 quid each  ).

I was going to mention about the space in the arches,i had 175/50's on my old RS2000 and they looked lost in the arches but my current mk2 should be low enough to pull it off

problem is my cappa was proppa slammed with brookies and 195 45s on, but i put some superlites with 175 50s on (the ones that were savagely taken from me) and its just too low, the gap at the top of the arch was good, but the front and rear of the arch was gaping... im having the 5j L wheels (look like thinner version of mexico steels with the slots round the outside) taken out to 7.5j which brings em right to the edge of the arch.

Does anyone know how the steel chrome hub caps fix on to these wheels as id really like to use em, i can get mk2 cortina hub caps (the ones that cover the wheel nuts) will these fit?

I was down at Brighton last week with my mate for the London to Brighton Mini run. There were some smokey deals down there for 175/50's, but they were old stock.

The word on the street is tyre prices are rising due to inflating oil prices, so if you see some cheapish tyres, grab them quick

*edit*

Re: yout wheels Glyn. The L wheels originally don't have the lugs for the chrome caps. There should be 3 lugs placed around the raised section inbetween the wheel nuts and the cut outs

i had 235 45 13s on my 10j splits...

gota remember the profile is the percentage of the width, so a 195 45 13 will be about the same sidewall as a 175 50 13.

my last x pack had 205 50 15s on a 7j wheels at the front, but on the back it had 225 50 15s and they were just wrong (too tall), it needed 45s on the back to match the front.
