sambo Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 Hi all, my girlfriend got me a PS3 for a engagement/birthday pressy last week and i really want to see what all this online malarky is all about. I am really shite with PC's so could someone tell me what exactly i ned to get to get online? I am with AOL (unfortunatley) and i have heard some bad things about device compatability with them? Which router shall i get etc?? Cheers, any help would be appreciated.
5hane Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 im with AOL and got the free netgear router (not great 54mbps) and it works fine, i rarly get lagg ( screen freezing and game almost crashing) or if your router is near ur ps3 just link it up.. nice and easy, the wirless can be a real head ache.. i had to set up 3 of my m8's lol
hotrodholty Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 dont bother going wirless, use an ethernet cable instead, and you'll never have a problem, get grand theft auto online and you'll never leave the house

It all fooking baffles me!! What about security when going wireless?? replace the BT one you have with a BT Voyager 240, they are available on eBay for £12, they are fully unlocked for gaming and have the spare port you need, you simply plug it in, follow the simple instructions provided and your off... couldnt be simpler, unlike other AOL fixes (they dont support gaming )
cisco24uk Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 I have the netgear dg834gt router connected fine just make sure you open the ports and you should have no problems. Instructions on prot forwarding here http://portforward.com/routers.htm Have self taught how to do all this so pm if problems.
