what cars do you recon will become classic?

or do you think there is no more classics to come?

even chrome nowdays is made of plastic..

and in this throw away world will any cars be able to become classics, before the fall apart.

IMO i think the 80's saw the last real classics.

what do you lot think ?

I have some classic car mags from the 70,s,in them they have lots of cars from the 30,s,40,s and 50,s.They also have ads for new cars like the alfa sud and vauxhall vivas.Who would have thought then that those modern cars would become classics?

i think that jellymoulds are close to being recognised as " classics" , but the performance ones , not your bog standard cvh crap :D

Things like the Alfa , Fiat 131 , Opel Monza"s even Cavaliers are getting rare...so maybe these will be classed as classic soon . I know they see them as Classic on RetroRide type forums , so maybe they are the future of the classic car scene ......................

.........but NOT as long as theres an OSF to be had :ykt::ykt: !!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem is, I don't know how a lot of cars of today will make it to classic status. A lot will be seen off as MOT failures for things that won't affect a lot of today's tax exempt classics, like emissions. Also, if some chip goes wrong in a 12 year old car that's worth less than scrap value, nobody will want to pay for it. And let's not get on the upcoming rise in road tax for many post 2001 cars. Add to that the high price of scrap, as I said many will not make it to classic (20 years) status.

I reckon there are plenty of cars out there that you can buy new today that will become valuable classics in the future, however I'm less convinced that there are many "common" mans cars that will reach that status.

For instance I can see cars like the Porsche Boxster, both generations of SLK, the Z3M and Z3M coupe the Z4 and Z4 coupe and a few offerings from Jaguar reaching valuable classic status. But with the exception perhaps of the VX220 from Vauxhall, I can't see much of todays production from mainstream manufacturers achieving the same desirability that 60's and 70's cars have for us today.

im under the impression that there aint many cheap cars that are gonna make it as future classics tho saying that it is alot of the cheap cars that are classics today.. i.e. the mini

i think things like the merc SL500 will be classicsbut they wont ever really interest me

Do you reckon the new rereleases will be classics... things like the MINI, VW beetle, and fiat 500

oh what about the nissan Figaro that is design to look more classic?

Anything with a bit of character to them. And stuff people remember and remind them of childhood.

E30's, 205 GTi's, 106's of the GTi and standard variety. I genuinely thing Corsa's will too. Nova's are already getting there. Think about it, how many young people have grown up looking up to corsa's all done up, and i bet everyone on here knows at least 3 people who have had a corsa as a first car. When people get older and try to look back on teen memories that little corsa will pop up and theyll want another one. All the hot hatches like Focus ST's, Golfs, even the MG ZR's.

the renault 5gt turbo.... havn't seen one for years then my mates sister turned up in a minter with a volvo 1.7 turbo lump in it, fook its quick, I think as so many went bang or bump they are already a rarity and therefore are going to be an expensive classic
