MexDan Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 I am really tempted to drop an S2000 engine into the escort when its done... I have seen a few on the rally stage and they sound the nuts and go like stink.. I know some people will not appreciate a non ford engine in a ford car... but what do people think of this engine?? I've heard low down torque can be a bit of a problem??? Cheers
bmxdave Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 Just do ittt!!!! Its a brilliant engine. Probably among the greatest ever made. does almost 125bhp per litre not say enough?
RWDmad Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 240bhp revs to 9k and extremely reliable and you get a 6 speed box too-do it you know it makes sense
bmxdave Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 Theres one rule though. You HAVE to put a motorbike exhaust on it! People will be looking for a bike and itll be you!
PIG Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 ive just sold my honda s2000 engined mk2 harrier very good lump
5hane Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 ive just sold my honda s2000 engined mk2 harrier very good lump pictures
fergus mk2 Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 yea you dont have alot of power until the vetec kicks in well thats whats its like on my brothers civic type R dunno if the lumps are the same?? buts it some feeling when it does
PIG Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 there are a few in the resto section, but as it was'nt a pinto or crossflow it didnt get many replies m8 so i stopped posting pics
RWDmad Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 found it http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... hp?t=59803 im going to read it now...
bmxdave Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 yea you dont have alot of power until the vetec kicks in well thats whats its like on my brothers civic type R dunno if the lumps are the same??buts it some feeling when it does As far as i know its pretty similar. You can get a vtec controller to sort that out though
timmy4doors Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 it is a slightly different engine mate the ep3 type r has the i-vtec system where as the s2000 has vtec, on the camshafts there is a eccentric cam movement to allow retarded and advanced valve timing at different revs thats the i-vtec system any way, the s2000 has different itenernals and cams to get 240bhp and it shouldnt be that bad at low revs not in a light car anyway

You can get a vtec controller to sort that out though them vtec controllers arnt all that because the whole point of vtec is the camshafts build up momentum to the optimum powerband then vtec kicks in but the ecu needs to know a few things before this happens oil pressure water temp etc etc so bringing the vtec down doenst work as well, there is ones that work like an apexi vafc there good but avoid cheap ones cos they dont do it much good
