Just got to get the fookin thing started now! To get it back to fitters, now if i did this on a bike, id simply take out plugs fire it till petrol comes outa plug holes, wire brush plugs pop em back in then fire back up, same drill for escort? Or new plugs needed? Its a 1600 x flow iam a newbie to scorts so bear with me, was shitting it id fooked me new car :sad:

P.s anyone recomend a good spark plug :lol::lol:

Normally turning it over with your foot planted on the accelerator gives the engine enough air to dry it out, hard to believe cos it goes against instinct! Same for bikes no doubt.

i heard NGK sparkplugs are good. I think thast what i use. :? then again my local motorfactors could give me a spark plug from cheese and i wouldnt care as long as it worked.

My only worry is spit back as on bike me jeans went on fire  I dont want my motor going up in blazes :lol:

Also what size gap am i looking at for setting new plugs?

0.025-0.028" is about normal unless you have a mega ignition system.

Am a big fan of NGK

And I meant with the plugs in.

The trouble with imoblimisers (as my lil' sister calls them) is I think they are quite voltage sensitive, so I'm not sure how well they work as your battery power fades. It will probably be ok by the time you find the jump leads or have charged the battery.

To be honest have to agree with me mate these old motors aint supposed to have all this electro crap hooked up to em. But insurance dictates it has to be done, cos light fingered barstewards cant leave whats not theres alone :evil::evil: Was running sweet as before all that shit was put on  Guess jumpleads new battery new plugs are in order :(:( Aint had the car 2 effin mins and this happens :sad::sad:

I have an immobiliser on ym escort but it was fitted 4 years before i bought it and according to the receipt a proper fitter did it.

They're not trouble free fun like the bike mate! I guess no-one mentioned that hey? They're like the Seven bridge, when you finish painting at one end you need to start again at the other! They are a "hobby" not just for Christmas.

"proper fitter" - my experience of a proper fitter is the blue sellotape wire splicers, a heater control jammed by the box, earthing problems and a car that wouldn't start and I quote " there is so much metal in here the antena can't see the fob properly.

I have now added countless switches, tricks etc to make it hard to start and "Le piece-de-la-resistance" a pre-crossflow tuned so tight that it blows up if you think about starting it!

Electrical problem or low water level? :?

dunno...it blows air though it but the switch i flick for the fan to kick in and icnrease the air flow dont work...think the units bust....oh well..i cant be arsed ripping the car apart to get to it.
