4parajon Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 With myself. I'll be honest, Ive only ever worked on Capri's and mk2 Escorts. All the "modern" cars Ive owned Ive always taken for services etc. But the missus was complaining the front brakes were making a scraping noise on her little Citroen C3. So I took her car into work this morning and at lunch took the wheel off and had a butchers, looked simple enough so rang and ordered a set of front pads as they were very worn which cost me £16. Finished work earlier and got cracking, took me about 45 min to do both sides from getting the trolley jack under. Can't believe how simple they were/are compared to our old cars with pins & springs everywhere Although I would never have taken it to a main dealer I could imagine Citroen charging about £80-£100 for that small job. So as I say I'm quietly chuffed with myself.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Top man I know what you're saying though, my sister has a V reg Nissan Micra and I did the pads on that. I had to hunt for a socket big enough for the wheel nuts (21mm ), seems the Japs don't want their wheels coming off lol. Anyway, once I had the wheels off, it took about 25 mins to do both sides... unbelievably easy. It felt like I had forgotten to put something back once the car was on the floor, it was that quick and easy. A few services after it was new, I think Nissan charged my dad nearly £200 odd quid to do disc's and pads
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 I reckon that you drove it into your work and spent all day on it. And the time you were not working on it you were on here. 'Finish earlier' for you means finishing at 9.15am instead of 9.30am Only kidding m8. Nice one

I remember Hamster Hammond did a road test on the C3 just before it launched and bits were falling off it. But the wifes had this from new (2003) and other than servicing, the pads are the only thing thats worn or fell off And there new C5 looks very nice for a modern plastic car IMO
