Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 ive got an old pentium 1 thing its great. to make the mice run faster can i just stick this in http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SL7NV-2-66-GHz-In ... dZViewItem or would i need a new motherboard etc?? If your laptop is an old P1, then no, that processor wont fit unfortunatley. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news 5hane... you really need to find out what 'socket' your main board is. I would be surprised if it does fit to be honest... your Celeron M will be about 1.4Ghz if i'm right, so I suspect the FSB and the amoutn of pins would be different. I had a mate of mine ring me a couple of months ago to ask me the same question. His wifes laptop I think is a Centrino or Pentium D. He found a better processor but with the same FSB (Front Side Bus) and he asked me if it would fit. I told him that it probably would, so he bought it. Luckily it was a cheap eBay win, because although it was the same FSB, it had 1 pin more than his old processor, so it wouldn't fit Unfortunatley, laptops have never been as easy to upgrade as a normal Desktop PC.
5hane Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 i think its better i leave it alone then my choice is buy a new laptop (this ones 3 years old now) or buy car parts .. ill hve to live with it
