stevepeanut Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 our main pc wont connect to the net, its always been fine. We have 2 laptops here, and both connect to the net no problem, so for some reason the desktop pc wont. No settings have been changed. It tells me to repair the connection, but when I try, it wontwork, comes up with something about the ip address. Any ideas anyone?
Chelle Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 ooooh ours does this if it goes into standby and the laptops or other pcs get turned on in the mean time... take it its all networked? You need to renew the random i.p address the router gives the pc if i remember rightly cuz the laptops pinch it! Don't ask me how though but its in my network somewhere!
stevepeanut Posted July 11, 2008 Author Report Posted July 11, 2008 I found this http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/wind ... ddrwxp.htm giving that a go now, see what happens
stevepeanut Posted July 12, 2008 Author Report Posted July 12, 2008 ok the pc says the new is connected ok at 100mbps, same as the laptops. Its says if you still cannot connection, try repairing the connection. Then it comes up "cant renew ip address". I have gone into the command prompt, and manually released and renewed the IP address, but it still wont work. Any ideas?
flyingbanana Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 ive seen this problem a few times...go to the network connection and disable it, then re enable it so it re looks for the connection...and restart the pc
Supercharged Nat Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 have all the comps on, then switch off the router/ modem and flick them back on... do they work now? you may need to assign perminent IPs to the comps..
MK5 Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 especially if you are running a mix of XP and Vista on the network
