can anyone explain the dgas term to me? i know its carbs but unsure which, i keep getting told to fit a dgas this and that but ive had no explanation why or what they are fitted to, the only thing i know about ford carbs is the single downdraught and the twin weber, also does a twin weber automatically make a car quicker as apposed to the single ford downdraught? cheers.

DGAS is the twin-choke downdraft Weber as fitted to the V6 Essex engine where both of the butterflies open at the same time.

38 DGAS (fitted to the 3 litre V6) had two 38mm 'bores' and an automatic choke (I think the DGMS had manual choke, but I could be wrong!).

32/26 DGAV??

i no it's just a typo but it's 32/36 is the standard 2.0 twin choke and it will say on the side of the base plate but there is another carb to keep an eye out for and that is the 40 dgav rare as rocking horse poo (i know because i have one and it cost me a small fortune), it's a old carb because it has covers over the gears on the side i think its off the rs3100 capri but i'm not sure. buy the way just in case you didn't know the numbers stand for the size of the outlet on the base of the carb so if you look at a 32 /36 they are slightly different sizes on a 38 or a 40 they are the same size and both chokes open together :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

I remeber reading in a mag years ago that a twin choke 32/36 was better than a 38 dgas on a pinto, but a 38 dgas made most people think the car was faster as you get more throttle for any given foot movement.

I do not speak from experience

IF YOU FIT A 38DGAS TO A PINTO YOU WILL NEED TO REJET IT

MAINS JETS 145

AIR JETS 185

IDLE JETS 45

EMULSION TUBES F50

PUMP JET 45

THIS IS FOR A STANDARD PINTO :)

How do you think it went? Did you go from a twin choke?

My first mk2 Tina had a 2.1 pinto. I rejetted the twin choke and went racing at north weald. I changed the carb whilst there for a DGAS.

My times were ever so slightly slower with the DGAS.

I did notice one big difference.............

loads less MPG with the DGAS
