hi guy's can i pick your brain im fresh out of ideas,

 

it is running like it is missing when foot is reasting on the throttal,but when you have it flat to the floor it go's with out missing a beat,so im slightly confussed,it tick's over fine it is just normal driveing,

 

ive changed for new,

 

plug's,cap,rotarey arm,lead's,coil, put redlead in it ect,and the leaded added stuff,

 

it sound's muffled out of the exeust and only does it when being driven,

 

any-ideas

Have you checked your valve clearances mate?

sounds like mine mate it will get worse mine has lot compresion on cylinder 4.

mate ive checked the dizzy and the timeing,it ran perfect two week's ago and then sarted playing up, so ive serviced the engine,but still cant find the source of the problum,

 

it is running a solex carb but it as only done 65k,

 

could it possable be fuel starvation causeing it

i would say air leak but you say it ticks over fine.

is it points or electronic ignition? how hot is the coil getting? have you changed the king lead?

if you can try a different ignition pack

i had a similar problem on a 2.8 special a few years back, car started & ran fine from cold but once it warmed up it ran like shite and would only go if you floored it, tryed everything no good until i swapped the ignition pack on the inner wing and that sorted it straight out.

Is there fumes and pressure from the back of the exhaust ?

 

I bought a mk2 escort years ago the garage had told them the engine was blown .................. turned out the baffle had collapsed blocking the exhaust and creating back pressure on the engine ?

 

 

Might be a long shot but worth checking ?

that sound's a good feary as the back box is f**ked replaceing at the week-end for some-thing sporty looking

The more you rev it the more fumes your making, which would put more back pressure on the engine ?

 

If your changing the box punch a couple of holes in it ?

it dont have any-problum's reveing or ticking over or nailed to the floor,it's just some time's normal driveing when it play's up like if it is starved or fuel or a plug lead as come off,does it mainly when i put juice in it

my granny does exactly the same thing , i havent been able to find the problem . although mine does disapear after 10 or 15 minits driving .

im begining to think its an air leak somewhere on the inlet as everything under the bonnet is literally new . mine is the injection set up but symptoms seem the same .
