jamie Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade the speakers in my daily drive. Does anyone have any recommendations for 165mm component speakers? I've been looking at the Alpine SPS-171A but am a bit of a newbie when it comes to car audio. They have the tweeters with them which I'll replace too. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
pauln Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 I,ve used Infinitys Kappa range a few times, sound great. Used mainly alpines amps though.
fiesta_dan Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 alpine r very gd m8 ive got tem n my hack very good sound.
over_head_cam Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 The ones you've looked at look like quality Items mate. Alpine has been a top name in car audio kit longer than most people think (it's older than a lot of members on OSF ) Always best to get a demo somewhere, but I guess you can't go wrong with a trusted name
jamie Posted July 28, 2008 Author Report Posted July 28, 2008 Thanks for the info. I'm still considering my options but the Alpines do look good.
Cookie Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Same as anything mate, you get what you pay for, not bang up to date with ice anymore, but used to be well into my sub and amps installs blowing £k's on the stuff I always found the best value was the mid range stuff from each supplier, the 300 notes a set of speakers where brilliant, but not for the money, the £50 a set components were fair, but only got what you payed for. the middle range stuff £100-£150 was always bang on the money and lasted well.
Savvi Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Try the Spl components excellent value for money gives loads of bass and a nice top end. antz Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 i know fook all about speakers. goodmans shelf speakers in my car
Savvi Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Twice the price The cheaper £79 ones are good and they give out enough bass that you don't need a sub & amp
