antz Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 Hey folks, After poking round my won car at ford fair (never a good sign when you poke your own car) i have decided its time to get two new rear arches and a spare wheel well fitted this winter as they are manky. I also have 2 dents in my bonnet and one in my rear panel. how much would i expect to pay a bodyshop to cut out the old arches and put new oens in, spare wheel well, skim in the dents and give the whole car a respray...(not a bare metal job) i know i pay for what i get...what i want is a ballpark figure so i can tell if im being ripped off or not. i would love to do the work myself but i cant weld, or spray please help BY THE WAY IT HAS A VINYL ROOF SO THAT DOES NOT NEED SPRAYING
Wessie Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 it really does depend on the bodyshop you go to, and like you've already said - you get what you pay for
antz Posted August 5, 2008 Author Report Posted August 5, 2008 i know what you mean wessie. i just wanted some kind of rough ballpark figure so i know how skint ill be and what would be in my price range. the car doesnt NEED a full spray but if im getting the rear quarters, rear panel, bonnet, wing tops done i might as well do the rest. this is gonna be an expensive winter think my rally fuel tank will have to wait til next winter along with a new vinyl roof.
MightySprocket Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 my fabricator charged out at £20 ph but I suppose each job is quoted on its own merrits, my respray was £1200 and that included loads of prep coz mine wasn't good enough i tried . But the 1200 was from a friend of a friend and was a foreigner, I know you can pat lots more and lots less. Best bet is to take the car somewhere I guess and get a quote
antz Posted August 5, 2008 Author Report Posted August 5, 2008 im having trouble finding a bodyshop i can trust the garage down the road has a shit hot sprayer but he wont do a full car cos he gets more money doing the odd panel for old ladies who crash into each other
jamesg Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 i'd ask the bodyshop's about their hourly rate etc. might be worth seeing if anyone will do a private job for you.
antz Posted August 5, 2008 Author Report Posted August 5, 2008 think ill have to travel round and see what i can find...i dont trust people near my car though...might ask my dads mate the jaguar bloke as he deals with 2 spray shops bepending on your wallet size i know a guy who used to really good and did all the bodykits for the local boy racers. was really good at air brushing too. then he became an alcoholic and i wouldnt take a banger racer there to get sprayed gone downhill really badly.
bigglesmk2 Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 C'mon Antz, your arche's arent that bad check out mine There alot of plag hiding in there
