brad Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 what do you need to get the temp guage working ? if its the guage , i have one , if its the sender , i have one . assuming its a v6 obviously.
lee_capri Posted August 5, 2008 Author Report Posted August 5, 2008 im not sure mate as the petrol gauage dont work either, ive checked the fuse's under the bonnet, you would'nt know if they have one inside the car
bomber1 Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 isnt there a resistor on the guages? why u coming down to surrey m8
lee_capri Posted August 5, 2008 Author Report Posted August 5, 2008 dont no if their is ,ive got to pick my boy up from purbright f**k it il leave him their
brad Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 the only other fuses i know of are under the dash on the drivers side ? not sure if theres one for the guages tho . best thing to do with the temp guage is pull the wire off on the sender unit and earth it . the guage should flick straight to the top . like i said m8 if you need either bit for it let me know . it wont cost you (maybe a pint ).
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 All fuel and Temp gauges are permenantly live when the ignition switch is in number 2 position. The live feed will go through a voltage stabilizer which is a little rectangular box which is often mounted to the back of the clocks. What makes the gauges work are earths. These earths are variable and are controlled by the senders. You can pull the temp sender wire off, switch on the ignition and you should have 12v at the wire... this goes for the fuel sender wire as well. As Brad said, if you send either wire to earth, the gauges should go to their highest reading. Normally if the ignition fuse blows, the gauges will stop working, but so will the ignition lights. If everything else is working o.k, I would start with the voltage stabilizer
brad Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 just remembered , i have a full set of spare clocks in my garage if needed . i think ive got a whole granny in bits in my garage lol
lee_capri Posted August 6, 2008 Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 i have earthed the wires out and the clocks dont move. so do you think it will be the box
