The seats are going back in for now, we'd like a more original set if possible.

The rear wheels are Mk2 Escort & Capri Ghia alloys i think ?

We had some good and some bad news today.

Good news is with a polishing mop and some cutting compond most of the dirt and rust disappeared, also found it's been fitted with bilies

The bad news is when they went to replace the worn strut top mounts they found some more rust

So on the phone and ordered some new strut top plates and repair panel ready for the Mot next week the original avo plate with the vin number was removed carefully so it can be re used.

Some pics taken today:

HOLY HELL, I KNOW THAT CAR FROM BACK IN THE DAY :shock::shock::shock:

It looked like one i knew, but now i see the dents in the front wing has confirmed it (i was gona ask if it had a strange dent in the osf wing too), the man you can thank for those dents is Paul Hands, and his clumsy ways of putting cars on low loaders, car was in a garage in high wycombe mid 90s, and i passed up on buying it..... for 700 quid

Did it still have the cobra front seats fitted?

it was roumoured to have a 1700 using the original block too, thats what the seller said when i went to see it last, it had 40 sidedruaghs on it then too.

it was 95 i think i see it last, hasnt allways been in that barn, was in a garage block in loudwater then.

Could be the car as the guy said he used to have a workshop in Wycombe, he works on Jags ?

Yes it did have a small dent in the rear n/s rear 1/4 but we popped it out !!!!

We took off the 40's as they were seized on the linkages, and the Cobra seats are still in there, this guy had another we were told that he wrote off ?

Be nice if it has got a 1700 in it :D

Loads of welding done,

top plates, front inner wing lower lip,

servo moved back to original position and plated inner wing,

drivers floor pan fitted.

Lower rear sill.

Starting to come together he's on it all weekend to get the Mot for next week, also going to replace brakes pipes as they look a bit crusty and service it.

Looking for a carpet and some original seats if possible.

Deffo the same car then, his boss owns a small jag workshop and races them too, hes an absolute nutcase by the way, took my mate to meet him to buy an XJRS...the bloke didnt like the offer and just out the blue bit his arm really hard

but the dent on the front wing gave it way.

nice find though, doesnt look to have sufferered much since i see it in 95, and if id have known it would have come up so well after a polish i prob would have brought it, but it had strange micro dots of rust all over it.

TBH that car was long gone, its nice to see it again and know it aint gone to the great scrap yard in the sky.

Yep that the one.

Still has the micro blisters of rust although most of it has polished out.

The guys boss is the one who told us about the car, and he is a bit of a nutter !!! got loads of Jags some are custom built and prototypes, he has moved to work out of the old farm and the Escort moved with them !!!

It was last on the road in 1987 tax is still in the window.

Nice to know someone else knows the car.

Small update.

Went around the car with a small hammer and decided to replace the passenger floor pan front lower inner wing under the arch and a small peice on the rear sill. Also remove all the brakes pipes to renew just in case.

Little bit more work but it will be worth it in the end.

It's an original Ford colour Jade green Lee.

The shell was that colour from new a 1969 1100 Deluxe 1 elderly owner from new and bought from my local scrappy after failing it's Mot in 1985/6.

At the time i was looking for parts for my other Mk1 and bought it complete for £40 replaced the rear exhaust, rear wheel cylinders and a set of wheels as the tyres had perished.

I sold the car in 99/ 2000 for £2500 and it look the same as in these pics except i had fitted mk1 Rs seats and painted the top of the rad black , once i had it looking this nice i hardly ever used it because i was working 14 hours shifts on the Rac, so it sat in my nice double garage at my old house collecting dust !!!

Someone on here had a MK1 Estate in the same colour, it looked the nuts in the flesh, it was painted in 2 pack and shone when polished up.

Mk2 Cortina's were a similar colour mine was hand mixed and slightly lighter than the original.
