Is there no way to wire it up without a hazard switch? You dont need them anyway because your car is too old.

I really have no idea Richard...can you help in any way ... please....

Didn"t realise it was toold for Hazard Switch... bloody typical :mrgreen:

You dont need hazards until 1986 so the banana just about scrapes in

If someone has a wiring diagram for a mk1 escort then I dont mind looking at it and seeing if I can suggest anything. No promises though because electricity is magical

I thought someone had told you how to do this in another post ?

I think you can bridge 2 of the pins together to make the indicators work.

I took the pic you wanted but you never sent me your number Ian ?

My cars dont have hazards but the barn find does i'll do some homework when i next go down there

Ive found this on the interwebnet and cant see any reason why it wouldnt work, but you would still need to know how your indicators are wired at the moment to replicate it

Ive only got a mk2 diagram here, but the there are two ways I can see of sorting yours lights out. First is to join two of the wires together on the hazard switch plug, the other is too run a new live feed to your flasher relay which would bypass the hazard switch.

(Assuming of course that the mk2 is wired the same as a mk1 )

My switch broke too.

Was yours a seven pin - internal relay switch?? If so, Im pretty sure they're made from moon-dust and unobtainium.

Il grab a pic of the connector block in mine and how ive bridged it, If its the same on your, then happy days

mate get two pieces of wire and a fuse holder in the middle witha 5amp fuse in it (safety first) I'm sure you need to join the two black/red (black with a red stripe) wires together.

it was deffo 2 wires of the same colour - it will only take 5 mins once you've got a fused bit of wire

Old fords tend to have common switches, eg the Mk2 transit is the same as the Mk1 fez. Some of the Mk1 transit switches are the same as the cortina and escort. Post up a pic of it, maybe it's interchangeable with something else. Emu's right BTW, you don't need hazards, our Mk1 SWB transit wasn't built with them.
