72mk1escort Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 As some of you probably know i recently fitted RS 4 spoke wheels to my MK1 Escort i brought the alloy wheel nuts from speedshack which where a great fit in the holes for the wheel nuts. The wheels have had new tyres fitted and all 4 have been balanced but between around 50-60 mph i have got vibrations/a small wobble on the steering wheel. I have spoken to the local tyre place (Watlings) and the guy said i need some spigot rings but i just wanted to see first if anyone has had the same problem as this. The car is a 1972 MK1 Escort 1100L which i have fitted the wheels to. If anyone knows anything about this or has done it their self i would really appreciate any help/information as i really need to get to the bottom of this. Thanks
Admin Vista Posted September 10, 2008 Admin Report Posted September 10, 2008 Are you using locking wheel nuts? Oh and you don't need spigot rings.
mk1mexico Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Make sure the hub faces and the wheel face are both flat and clean from dust build up or general muck Or take it somewhere else to balance them to double check
