Slammed Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 are absoloutly hateable basiclly i wanted at first to buy a cheapo mk2 escort, i said that i will learn to weld etc.. but guess what i track one down, the answers no then i leave it, i ask to build an engine i get an all clear to build up a pre xflow. i pick up some inlets from a mate, and i am tracking down a 1500. track one down, dads excuse is now i cannot build it as my gc flipping se's are coming up and we have an aspestos garge but i dont care, even though he wont let me have 1mtr/square in his new garage. i said i will only do this on saturdays and fridays but a no but now the future seems very bleak. i aint speaking to my dad. i cannot do barely anything, and we dont even go to many shows at all. i dont know what to do or say. as i know prices are gonna shoot up and im best buying these bits now. i just may as well quit it, i barely get away with bmx's even though i have quit that for osf's. anyone got any help i.e should i wait?should i do stuff to gain dads trust etc.. regards from a peeved of gavin
Retro-gone. Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 can i just ask, is your dad into vehicles, cars bikes etc? my kids had cars and bikes forced on them lol, even my 2 daughters know more about cars & bikes than the average person.. i cant understand parents that stop thier kids doing what they want (within reason) we didnt force any of them to take exams or stay on at school and they are all working in good jobs, i have a brilliant relationship with all 3 of my kids , im not saying i let them get away with murder, they have had thier fair share of bollockings but ive never been overstrict with them.. at 11 years old my eldest daughter wanted to learn the drums, so i bought her a kit and paid for lessons, now shes 22 and been in several bands and is rated one of the best drummers in this area.. my kids think the world of me and thier mum , id be gutted if they hated us!
Retro-gone. Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 this is me and my son steve many years ago winning trophys this is him aged 5 on the bike i cut down for him and this is him now on his Gsxr suzuki.
Slammed Posted September 20, 2008 Author Report Posted September 20, 2008 my dad has always been into osf's since he was 16,aimilair age as me now. just now he has lost touch, i want him to get back into it but may be next year we will restart. i dont truely hate him , it is his actions towards me like not letting me build an engine on weekends. its just i want to carry on the name in osf's for us lot. but what i want to do is just build an engine. we do have a good relationship, just that my dad dont want me to get into it at this age, which i can understand, but i grew/am growing up with them around me. so it seems wrong not to like them hope you understand
Retro-gone. Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 no i dont understand matey, your dad should be fookin proud of you and its annoying me that he isnt dya want me to come thro and give him a good bashing?
Slammed Posted September 20, 2008 Author Report Posted September 20, 2008 no lol. i want you to come along and lock him in the garage with a mig welder to finish his 302 mk1 cortina basiccly i just want to be in the scene, dads says it is fine but he says i am a bit too young, i think he just cant stand seeing me grow up tbh . but i would feel the same in his boots then
surfingturnip Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 arents were exactly the same mate. It's taken me about 2 years to get tehm to the point where I've been able to get my own car and a hell of a lot of being an irritating sod to let them do it though. . Still, as Tony says your dad should be happy about you wanting to do something thats actually a worthwhile investment and that'll keep you out of trouble. keep at it though, they'll cave in eventually
Slammed Posted September 20, 2008 Author Report Posted September 20, 2008 yup, but i crave for engine building, i am fed up of bmx's etc.. and fed up of going out (why is it that me and my mates end up going kfc instead of cheapdonalds) as i sepnd my money. i think i will just have to sit it out and wait but hell when i get my 1st osf i am ragging the tits out of it
surfingturnip Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 As I said mate waiting and keeping at them's all you can do really. It's what I had to to and it worked so I can actually reccomend it
Slammed Posted September 20, 2008 Author Report Posted September 20, 2008 cheers for that tip, i am still trying at it
Retro-gone. Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 youve got to get across to them how much your passion means to you. i really cant figure it out with your dad holdin you back, i could understand it if he wasnt a petrolhead..
Slammed Posted September 20, 2008 Author Report Posted September 20, 2008 i guess he is cautious of my future as he was made redundant when i was born and jobless for a year, he wants me to get a saf and good payed job. i totally agree with him, but he can at least let me work on an engine on weekends? i jut have to get it through to him. i best be on my good behaviour and not pester him for a week then.
flyingbanana Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 i had the same with my folks when i was younger so neg against everything......i went and did it the opposite to what they wanted,if i didnt do what i did then.....i wouldn't have my escort now (my dad didnt was very neg against me getting it) and few other things ...even today they still moan...its called parents syndrome its your life ...do what you want
