slimrs Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 is there any where i can get an electric vacuum pump to run my servo on the capri. apparently some volvos run them but i cant find any on the net anywhere. really struggling with other ideas for brakes at the minute
slimrs Posted September 22, 2008 Author Report Posted September 22, 2008 i knew there would be sarcasim, and it had to be from you lol
V8ian Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 the source for Vacuum pumps to run servos can be found on diesels, as diesels do not create Vacuum the must run an aux pump to work the servo, certainly Vauxhall and some ford transits have a pump built in/attached to the back of the alternator, anyway, servos are for namby pamby girls
emu Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Why cant you just run it off the intake manifold like normal?

emu Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 cosworths have abs and no servo, i havent got a oneway valve in the servo line where can i get that from, that would probably help a fair bit I just assumed they would have had . I think it would help as it would stop boost pressure blowing into the servo. but still allow the vacuum to suck on it. Most cars have a one way on them, often its built into the plastic elbow that joins the hose to the servo, but some have them in-line. Volkswagen seems to ring a bell, but a trip round any scrapyard should provide something to try
V8ian Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 I run about 300hp and no servo, wheres the problem.
slimrs Posted September 23, 2008 Author Report Posted September 23, 2008 thanks emu, ill have a look round, if i have one it aint working what brakes are you running ian, im on vented discs with m16 calipers that were perfect before i put the cossie lump in. i can jump on the pedal but it does very little to stop me, i will be putting a willwood kit on it when i find some bigger wheels i like but i dont think thats the problem at the minute
emu Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 if you can disconnect the hose from the plenum, try sucking and blowing down it, might just be jammed open and need a clean up. Its certainly the cheapest and easiest thing to try first
